Has anyone been able to successfully reduce their number of night wakings and/or improve naps in a 4-6 month old by doing an earlier bedtime?  The Healthy Sleep Habits book always haunts me when I try to put my LO down for the 4th nap and I always wonder if he is right that putting them to bed super early will get them to have fewer night wakings.

Any by "improving" naps I don't really mean extending, I've given up on that and am waiting for naps to lengthen when he is developmentally ready.  I just mean going down easier, no 30 minute naps, etc.  (although if it helped you to extend naps that is definitely welcome info as well!  i just gave up on it for now)

If you did, what was your old/new bedtime?

How can you tell if teeth are moving around in the gums?  Some days i could swear he is teething and then he'll go a few where he doesn't chew on a thing.  I swear he gets more angry after chewing on something than he gets relief from it.
