9mo - EASY question
« on: February 09, 2012, 16:03:42 pm »
Hi there,

My DS has been on EASY since 4mo.  He is now 9mo and I had a couple of questions regarding his EASY schedule.  I understand that his A time should be about 3-3.5 hours now.  If he is still on a 4hr EASY, does that mean his naps should be capped at 30-1hr?  He often pulls 1-2hr naps but then his 4hr EASY would be a 5hr EASY instead.

Is there an ideal schedule that I should try to follow or stick to the 4hr EASY and cap naps?

Thanks so much!

-Missy

By 9 months you don't need to worry about the 4 hours, its more like 4+ hours. You let your guy have the 3.5 hours A time, (or more, some babies manage more at 9 months- up to your baby though), and then let him sleep for up to 2 hours (some people cap the nap at 2 hours, i actually let my guy sleep- but that's up to you) and then feed him. At 9 months he;s probably having at least one solid meal- if not 3 solid meals, so that, and the ability to have more milk means he can manage it.

There is no 'ideal' schedule- but usually by 9 months babies are on 2 naps- my guy does a long morning nap at about 3.5 hours A time and then a short afternoon nap. But sometimes he does 2 2hour naps, other babies do a short AM nap and a longer PM nap- They usually need between 1-2 hours at least once a day for their sleep to be restorative at 9 months.

Please let me know if you have any other questions on your EASY routine!!

Hi amayzie,

Thanks so much for your post.  DS has been on more of a 5hr schedule (pulling long am naps & short pm naps) so I guess we're somewhat on schedule :).

We are struggling with solids right now, but he has been eating breakfast (refusing lunch and dinner most days) of yogurt, fruit and cereal.  I guess I will just have to try to fill him up with milk during the day.

Other than that, I think our EASY is ok for now.  THANKS!  If only I could say the same about NWs and PD :P

Do you have a post up about the NW? If not you can post your EASY here and i can see if it needs a tweak- or pop a question onto the NW board!

Great naps in the day though!
