Need Help Please
« on: February 16, 2012, 18:29:35 pm »
Alyssa is almost 4 months now. Here are are issues:
We had her so so close to a 4 hr Eating routine then had a mix up with DH making formula (adding way to much water). So we are right back to 3 hrs. I am really trying to push that extra 15 mins but so far no go :(
We also went back to a 3-4am night feeding, which really isn't a problem since she eats, burps and goes back to sleep in about 15 minutes BUT it does interfere with her 1st morning bottle. She gets up at about 7:30-7:45am most days and is not hungry until 15-10 minutes before her 1st nap. It messes up her whole EASY. I have tried:
More ozs during the day (still woke up hungry at 3-4am)
no DF (she just wakes up 2x times instead of one)
Giving her paci (her hates her paci at night and it wakes her up, so not going down that road again)
Later DF (around midnight), same thing happened.
Putting less ozs in the bottle (she woke right up and cried and didn't go back to bed)
She drinks the whole 7 oz so I know she is hungry, I just wish this bottle could be gone!

 Help please ???

Nope, barely getting to 3 hrs now and still at 7oz; hopefully starting her on solids ( as per doctor's orders) we should see some change.
We are starting on rice cereal (homemade, very yummy my toddler loves it and I see already that I will have to give her a bowl when I feed the baby :)) 2x a day as of tomorrow.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Let us know how it goes and we can think again. Go easy with the rice though in case it constipates her. Is she draining the 7oz day bottles? If she is you can put another oz or 2 in them for her.

I am going very very easy on the rice cereal, it's watered down to the max and she gets 4 baby spoon fulls and then a big drink of water.

Homemade rice cereal:
I bought brown rice, the regual stuff not half cooked
put half cup in baby bullet(you can use a blender) grind untill it's a powder
put in pot with 4 cups of water- once boiling turn down, stir often, cook for 20 minutes, DONE :) ( makes 18 oz)
Now I add more water at this point( pre boiled water) to make it super runny, I then add 1/2 a baby spoon of organic brown rice syrup.
It honestly taste better then cream of wheat and I love cream of wheat.

thanks for the recipe!  i alsways wondered the best method for making cereal.  i think when my DD is ready would likely water down with ebm from the freezer but sounds great.
