2hr 30-40 would be what I'd go for...

We've had the weirdest start to the day. She was up at 5.15am, pooped stayed awake, fed her at about 6.45am down at 7.30am and still asleep now at nearly 11am. ??? :o At this rate we'll be back on track when I wake her, as she'll have made up the sleep she missed this morning and the nap she'd normally have now...  Have no idea how the rest of teh day will pan out though??

glad you got a good nap :)

We are struggling.

This is today
A - 6.40am
S - 9.50-10.25am
S - 1-1.40pm

I medicated before the second nap so could not have been pain. I am so so so confused. We had abut 3 days of success where she was doing about 3.15 A time and then 1-2 hour nap but does not seem to be working now.??

Then I am trying not to stretch too far for second nap but she is waking fine, not too cranky.
Does this kid just need waaaaay more A time than I am giving? I swear she is nearly 9 months and i still have no clue about what her sleep needs are. I just can't work her out at all.

That is just what I did with 30 min naps, 3-4 depending on age and day. It was the only way I could keep on top of OT and Z was very touchy as a baby.

I am wondering If she needs more A :-\ I think we had a big jump around 9 months. You could try a 3.5 hr A once, it can't get much worse right ;) I guess the other thing is that longer A worked temp because it is actually too much, so then you would need to try 3 hrs if you think OT not UT.

Hugs short naps sux...I do think though if teething this could be a bit part of it! :-*

we still seem to be struggling with the pm nap. Any ideas?
Yesterday she did a 2 hour am nap and then I did 3.15 A time and she did a 30/35 min pm nap and today she did an hour am nap and just put her down after 3.15.
I thought i would keep the A time the same just to see if it is actually UT.

We only seem to get one good ish nap a day - do you think that is just her or does it sound like she is already starting the 2:1?? Yikes!!

I was wondering this - surely it's too early at 8m? Maybe they are transitioning by only needing a 2nd short nap. But annoyingly that still means we end up with a rush in the afternoon to get to an early BT.

Sofia has gone from being a really solid napper to being awful this past week. Still trying to figure out if it's the aftermath of being ill (little bit of trouble settling herself like she used to) Teething, or that she actually needs less sleep. I'm still dancing around the whole A time problem. I've gone back to putting her down at 2h 30 in the morning, but can't figure out whether we need to be under 3hrs or over 3hrs for the 2nd...

We are at 2hr 50 now and no tired signs but what's new..! lol.

I just spotted an eye rub and whipped her up to bed... 3hr A time I think.. maybe 3hr 5. God this is ridiculous!! Will see how long she goes for, but even if it's only a 45 it will be enough to get through the day without chronic OT at BT like last night.

M woke after 40 mins and then settled for another 20. Just went in to try and re settle but think she is awake. She was really crying when she woke so must be OT I guess but teeth are there too. Who knows! Fingers crossed for a good nap xxx

might be clutching at straws but wonder if it is hunger?? She had lunch at 12.30pm and was due for a milk feed at 3.30pm so guess it 'could' be.

Once we change to 3 bottles she will have it around 1.30/2pm so may help with that i guess.

Becky, Have I got this right.
After a solid 2hr nap she did a 30/35min nap on 3hr15 A?
After an hour nap she did a 40min nap on a 3hr15 A?

Sounds like you 'could' be like us and get 40min naps when OT and try to resettle and cant and 30/35min naps when UT (but wake grumpy because still tired KWIM?) :-\

If you get a 2hr nap again I would go for 3.5hrs. At 8 months we were certainly heading closer to 3.5hrs for A times after a solid nap. I think we had something like this...
WU 6
A 3hrs15
Nap 9.15-11 (this was always his long one and the one we kept in the 2-1)
A 3.5hrs
Nap 2.30-3.30/4
A 3hrs (Z liked a long middle A and short A to BT)
BT 7
