18 weeks and EW
« on: February 21, 2012, 16:12:20 pm »
DD is waking earlier and earlier and I was so determined when she was born to have a set wake up time at 8am.  She has woken a handful of times at 8am but mostly we are looking at 7am.  With EW's we are having 6am wake ups.  I usually leave her for 1/2 an hour to see if she will fall back asleep but no go.  She is chatty and happy but it kills me to leave her there are swaddled in a dark room when she is obviously not going back to sleep.
Our current easy looks more or less like this, not every day but the majority of them.
Wake 6am
E 7am (has a night feed at 4am and this is the earliest she will consider feeding)
S 7:45am - 9:15am
E10:30am
S 11:15am - 12:45am
E 2:00pm
S 2:15pm - 2:45pm (I usually botch something and get her down OT)
A
S try for 4:15 but won't go down so try again at 5pm - 5:45pm (or will go longer and I have to wake her)
E 6pm
S 7pm but takes her about 10min to fall off to sleep.

This is as close to an EASY routine that I can post.  It is not always like this and nap lengths can be a big longer on the long naps.  Sometimes the 2nd nap is short and the afternoon or 3rd nap is long.  Of course this would push the catnap back and she goes to bed later at 7:30pm.  I would love to move things back more.  Last night she went to bed at 8pm and woke at 6am this morning.  She was doing 12 hour nights really well and that is why I haven't complained until now. We were working with a 7 -7 routine but now she waking closer to 6am.
On days when we get crazy 30min naps all day she then sleeps longer at night giving a 12 hour night.  This seems backwards to me?

The naps are looking good- but i think you need to push up the A times so you can ditch that last nap of the day that she's fighting. I think you can probably look at pushing him up again to wards 2 hours A time. This should get you an extra hour A time and you can bring BT forward a little and get rid of the last nap- so have 2 long naps and a cat nap. Have you done this before? Here are some links to give you an idea!

The early waking and the fighting the last nap are both signs that she needs more A time and less day sleep- give it a go and see how you go!

thanks, I will for sure.  I've been trying to push out the first A time for a little while now and am up to 1hr 45 min.  Will keep going and see if it helps.  On a good note, she slept through the night last night with no feeding.  Unfortunately, she woke at 6:10am.
