For anyone looking for dairy free cheese.......
« on: March 08, 2012, 21:33:35 pm »
Tesco have just expanded their 'Free From' range to include a soya based hard cheese, and a soya based cheese spread along similar lines to Dairylea.

I just thought I'd share, since when we first found out DS was dairy intolerant, we found good substitutes for milk, butter & yoghurts, but couldn't find a decent cheese & its been quite restrictive at times without it.

I bought some of both types today, DS tried the 'dairylea' type spread & that gets the thumbs up, but we haven't sampled the hard cheese yet so I'll report tomorrow with how it tastes!

I just got a recipe on how to make vegan cheese from fermented cashews. I recently did a raw vegan cooking class and we made cashew cheese and a lemon blueberry geese cake - it tasted exactly like cheese cake. Amazing!!! The cashew cheese turns out like cream cheese.
