yawn - why is she NWing at 9 months??
« on: March 09, 2012, 14:22:01 pm »
there is always something going on with DD and her sleep. For about the last week we have had NWings. They are usually around 1/2am and she just on/off cries. It is not an 'i need you' cry at all. She cries out and then is silent for a minute, then cries out and it can go on for ages. I hate it as I want her to be able to self settle but i also don't like to leave her yk so I do go in when it is clear she is not going back to sleep. I usually stroke her head and then she goes off until about 5.30am on a bad day and 6.30am on a good day. Any ideas??

Does it sound like pain? She has so many teething symptoms. SA? She is mega whiny and attached to me atm. It is def not hunger as she is happy to wait until 7.30am for her bottle.

She naps twice a day. She usually does 1 of about 40-50 mins and another longer one of ideally 1.5-2 hours.

mm could be teething pain that is just preventing her from getting back into a good sleep YK? You could try medicating when she first starts and see if it helps....but then I am always worried if I do this it will rock the boat more ;)

Her EASY looks good, how are her naps spaced ie A times...could you maybe post EAS. I wonder if she needs a bit more A time before BT and that waking is slightly UT what do you think?

yes I was wondering about the A time. This is today...

A - 6.30am
E - 7.15am - milk and 8am solids
S - 9.50-10.55am
E - 12.30pm - solids and 1.30pm milk
S - 1.45-3.15pm
Bedtime - 6.30pm

what do you think? She is eye rubbing at bedtime and goes down well but I guess she could need more? I try to stick to a 12 hour day seeing as only one nap is a good one.

that first nap should read 9.50-10.45am.

You don't think it could be developmental at all? Tying to crawl, walk?
http://blogginaboutbabies.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/wonder-week-37/ she is a bit old for this WW but they are not always dead on :-\

Your EASY does look good, but at 9 months I think a 12.5 hr day is fine really. 12 hr nights are pretty long for that age and OU may find the 1hr long NW is headway of getting a bit more A? Wouldn't be worth just adding another 15 mins between that nap and BT and see if it helps?

yes going to do that. awake at 5.30am today and kind of restless for about 30 mins before...but no NWing last night. We either get one or the other and she has never done 12 hour nights, her norm is 11, often a bit less (yawn) so I do need to push bedtime back. thanks x
