Started DD on hemp milk this past week (she spits up everytime I have milk) as part of weaning from BF. Started with just once/day. She's drinking some but not that much (1 - 3 oz). I'm certain it's not near as much as she would if she was having a BF. I bought the unsweetened kind so it's got a distinct flavour, but it's not terrible.
Wondering about buying their original kind which is sweetened with evaporated cane sugar. I looked at the nutritional data for it and it has no more sugar then milk. I am aware that hemp milk doesn't provide as much fat as whole milk does, but is similar to 2% in fat but slightly less calories because less sugar. I'm thinking that if the hemp milk was slightly sweeter she would drink more...therefore getting more of the needed fat/calories and calcium. BUT in my head purchasing something with added sugar is against everything I've been doing...like looking up sugarless birthday cake recipes!
Any thoughts on this?
