It is impossible to keep him in bed! He screams and points to the door, i once tried wi.wo for an hour and he screamed the whole time! I have occasionally got him to sleep in our bed, but even then he usually only stays for a short snuggle and bf then climbs out and wonders off to play! I doubt very much he will wake after 6am, as that has not happened in AGES! If i stick to 1nap our day is likely to go wu 5am nap 11-12 bt... 5pm...? Hope for 12hr plus night???
Am totally lost, and willing to try anything! Xx

Hmmm.  I think even if he does 1hr nap, 5pm is a little on the early side - you'd need minimum 12hr night or he'll be up before the birds.  In our house we always had a rule that BT would be 6pm at the earliest - we couldn't practically do it any earlier.

I actually think if you want to see a consistently later WU his nap needs to go back to around 12.30pm start, but with such an early WU it will be very hard to achieve.  I think your best bet may be to stick consistently with nap at 11am for a week, (hope he does 2hrs) & BT at 6pm.  Then push it all on 15mins so nap 11.15am, and assuming 2hr nap, BT at 6.15pm (a little earlier if he short naps).  And so on, 15mins later each week til nap is starting at 12-12.30ish.  It will be very tough going, but it is kind of a set nap so it gives consistency, and the early bedtimes should help limit OT, and by pushing the nap later (& therefore BT later) you will break the cycle of early waking.  I did this at 15/16 months & it was horrendously difficult & DS got very very OT but it helped tremendously & we had 2 months of blissful 7am WU, 12.30-2.30 nap & 7.30 BT before the 18 month sleep regression hit us hard!

I think he needs that nap pushed out a bit further hun... you will find as he settles into one nap that the nap will shorten and nights will be crap when it's time to increase the morning A time a touch ;)

hmmm...

Looks like you are in a bad cycle of early morning - early nap - early BT... I have suffered that one more than once!

I think you might have to do a CN to get out of the super early wake time to get to a decent BT.

If he wakes around 5am, do a 15 min CN around 9am (car ride comes to mind!)... then try to PD around noon/1230pm and let him sleep...

(((hugs))) hun.

What did you do in the end?  Sorry haven't been around much, crazy week prepping for wedding!  I agree with Kara, nap too early, BT too early.  I know initially we encouraged you to pull the nap earlier, b/c he was going down nearer to 1pm some days, but I think its going a little too early.  Personally, IIWM I would try & avoid the CN unless he's absolutely beside himself by 9am, as I think it will keep encouraging the WU to stay early b.c he needs to be on 1 nap now.  I still stand by the advice in my last post, to stick with 11am nap & 6pm BT for 1 week, then push 15mins later so 11.15 nap & 6.15 BT for 1 week & so on, until he is napping at lunchtime & going to bed at a more reasonable hour.  HTH hun.x

Thanx guys! Hp ur wedding plans r all going well and u really enjoy ur big day!! Am feeling so broken with these EWs. I tried the 11am nap and 6pm BT, but we still get a short nite and crap nap. However i think the 2nap ship has sailed. After 4.50 wu he refusd nap at 9am, 9.30am, and even stayd awake in the car at 10.15. Ugh. Tried 4a 12o'clock nap, settld at 12.15 wu at 1.10, resetld in my arms while Ds1 watchd tv then had to get him up. Did 6.30 bt asleep just before 7pm. I like ur suggestion of gradually pushing nap out, but have found it dificult to do, as Ds1, nursery and MIL keep getting in the way! Also the 11 oclock nap is still only an hr. Sigh. Will keep trying! Xx

Hey hugs on the ew. We had it for months with the 2 to 1 with ds1.
I would look at your days and try to shorten them. That means a lot of ebt but they ate just so long and with the short naps he must be so ot.
Personally I would do an 11.30am nap and bt 6pm latest. And by that I would aim to have him in asleep by then. At 4.30 I would treat that as a nw and settle in the same way you would for a nw.

When I had ew for months with k in the end I treated it like a nw and he did go off again eventually.
