I've tired 1 nap a few times in the past few months, she seems to handle it fine for 1 day but then got OT if i do 1 nap 2 days in a row. I'm going to try 1 nap today around 11.30am and see how our night is tonight and i'm hoping she might sleep longer. x

I put her down at 11.30am - she didn't look tired but i tired anyways, she then done the same as she's been doing at bedtime, playing. After 10mins i brought her back down and and then she started yawning so i took her up at 12.05 and she lay down, snuggled in and went to sleep with no messing. This was 5hr 35mins.

She then woke up really upset at 12.50pm and it took me 5mins to calm her down and she then slept until i woke her at 2.30pm as i'm hoping she'll be in bed and asleep for 6.30-7.00pm which leaves us a 12.5hr day. I'm just hoping she sleeps okay tonight. x

Yesterday went:

9th.
6.35am - up.
12.10pm - nap. A time 5hr 35mins.
12.50pm - had to resettle
2.30pm - up. 2hr.
7.30pm - Bed. A time 5hr.

I had to wake her at 2.30pm and she didn't want to wake up, she kept closing her eyes until i lifted her up so i thought she'd be tired enough for bed at 7.00pm but she messed around, and then started crying around 7.25pm when i kept laying her down and she finally fell asleep after 5hr A.

She then woke 40mins, 3hr20mins, 1hr (where i gave a bottle - maybe should of when she woke previously) she then slept 2hr15mins and 2hr10mins where she woke at 5.35am, i managed to lay her down and she was then quiet until 6.00am she maybe fell asleep for 10mins i'm not sure. We had a 2hr 55min day and A 10hr night.

I'm not sure what to do today as if i want a 12hr day she'll have to bed in bed for 5.00pm and if she does another 10hr night she'll be up early early :(

Sorry you had a rough night  :(

How are you resettling her at the NW? Just wondering if it could be habit as your day yesterday looks good  ???

If she's up from 5.30/6am she'll need her nap at 11/11.30. Or you could do a short 10-15 min catnap around 10am to keep her proper nap around 12/12.30

When she wakes, i go in lay her down, pop her dummy in, put her blankets on then i stand beside her cot. She then goes back to sleep within a few seconds.  How long should her day be, is it 12.5hr at the most?

I think i'll try with this routine today and hope she has a good 2hr nap again. x

5.35 - up.
11.10am - nap A time 5.5hr
1.10pm - 2hr.
6.10pm - 5hr.

that looks good. DS took ages to get to one nap as he was teething and just could not handle the A times so we did a good 6 weeks of an am 20 min nap and longer pm.

We've been doing 30min Am and 1.5-2hr PM nap for about 2 months and she was still doing 11.5-12hr nights (But waking alot.) until recently where she's been doing longer A times there for having long days and then short nights.

She was moaning and rubbing her eyes this morning around 9.00am so i took her up and put her into her cot but she was just playing around so i brought her down after 10mins, she was then doing the same around 10.30pm and pointing to the stairs door, so i took her up and done the same and she was just playing. So i brought her down and gave her some lunch and took her up at 11.00am and she fell asleep around 11.10am.

She done the same as yesterday and woke after 30mins but i managed to get her back to sleep and she then slept til 1.00pm.

I think she's OT when going down but i really can't get her to go to sleep any earlier, the same at bed time. x

There is a bit of a transition where they won't settle before a certain amount of A time, but at the same time get a little OT as they're not quite used to it yet. Stick with it and she'll adjust. It was a pretty good nap in the end :) Fingers crossed tonight goes better.

We had a struggle at bed time again, i had her in bed for 6.50pm thinking she'd settle for around 6.10pm and have a 5hr A. But she messed around and again got upset and finally settled at 6.55pm after a nearly 6hr A time! I can see she's getting tired and keep laying her down but she just keeps getting up and i can't get her to sleep any earlier.

She fell asleep last night after 5hr A so i was hoping she'd do the same tonight or maybe 5.5hr at the latest. She also woke herself from her nap today so i'm thinking she's maybe getting OT but i'm not sure what i can do if she won't go down for naps/bedtime earlier. Should i be worried that her A times have jumped alot as she was doing 3.5 - 4.5hr. x

Our routine for yesterday and today:

9th.
6.35am - up.
12.10pm - nap. A time 5hr 35mins.
12.50pm - had to resettle
2.30pm - up.
7.30pm - Bed. A time 5hr.

10th.
5.35 - up.
11.10am - nap A time 5.5hr
1.00pm - 2hr.
6.55pm - 5hr 55mins.

I am also struggling with poor nites, poor nap and chronic ew. Think we are OT from bad nites, but cant get daytime routine right to fix. One nap days often backfire, but he also can refuse an am CN unless am lucky and driving!
We have also got teething and have had a run of illness so am doubly confused about what to do! I'd like to get a gd 1 nap routine but can't seem to get the right a time to get a long nap. 2 naps always result in a hugely long day 14plus hours, which leads to v short nites (9.5 hours is quite common and he wont sleep even in our bed while bf-ing).

I am trying for (based on advice from other bws) if wu after 6am
Wu 6, a time 5hr
Nap 2hr then a time 5.5 hr or if nap less than 2hr a time 5hr

E.g.
Wu 6.30
Nap 11.30
Bt 6pm if nap till 1pm or 7pm if nap till 1.30pm

Or

Wu 5am
Nap1 9ish for 10min
Nap2 12-2pm
Bt 6.30pm

Have not managed to implement either routine sucessfully yet as baby e seems to be constantly teething, ill, or else holiday or ds1s activities interfere, but i keep trying! Perhaps we can support each other as i am a bit of a mess from 15plus months of sleep deprivation. Am going to bed now (at 8.30pm!) as am certain of a nw or 2 and a 5am (or earlier) wakeup. Sigh.

We got a 10hr 50min night!. She finally fell asleep at 6.55pm and made a little noise at the 30min mark but didn't wake. I went upto bed 10mins later and she woke up (40mins after going to bed.) j.and.e we also go to bed 30mins after LO, sometimes as soon as she's asleep if she goes to bed after 7.30pm and we've already eaten lol.

She then slept 4hrs where i then gave a bottle (i'm hoping she'll drop this again on her own soon, but i don't mind giving it.) She then woke an hour later, then kept waking every 15mins from 1.00am - 1.35am where i then gave nurofen she then slept 2hrs, woke and then slept another 2 hrs.

I think i'll carry on with the 1 nap again today as she seems to be doing okay on it. When i've tried in the past she's either been totally shattred 4hrs after and crying/falling asleep at bedtime and waking every 1hr. Will try the same A times as yesterday and see what we get. x

11th.
5.45am - up.
11.15am - nap A time 5.5hr
1.15pm - 2hr.
7.10pm - 5hr 55mins.

If she sticks to them times today, it still gives us a 13hr 25min day - Is this too long? x

j.and.e - I was trying for the same A times as you, 5.5 A before Am nap and then 5hr before bedtime but LO had/has other ideas lol. x

that sounds much better :)
I would aim for 5.5 max after her nap so maybe start bedtime routine a bit earlier. That will mean a 13 hour day which is quite normal.
I would probably think about dropping the NF tbh. At this age she should not need it if she is eating well and it does not help with NWings if they think there 'might' be a feed when they wake.

I let her have a 2hr15min nap as i had to resettle again as she woke after 30mins. She then fell asleep after 5hr 40mins at bedtime. - We didn't have a good start to the first part of the night, she woke after 30mins,2hr,1hr,50mins,30mins I then gave her some nurofen and she slept 5hr5mins from 12.10pm - 5.15am and then decided it was time to get up! But i got a bottle, as i didn't offer 1 at 12 (and she obv wasn't hungry as she then slept 5hrs lol.) Sat her on my knee for 30mins but she wasn't going back to sleep - i then put her in her cot and she played for 20mins where i got her up for the day at 6.20am.

So we had a 10hr25min night. - Is it because i let her have 15mins longer at nap time? or because she had her nap a little early? x
