Thanks little toes. Its really good to hear that I can stop trying to change things if shes not ready. She took 40 mins tonight but I didnt get worked up , like you say I used the time to work things through in my head and I found the whole BT experience much more manageable. She is how she is and I like hearing her chat to herself about her day.
skatty - is that a book? I just did the toddler quiz about what personality type DD is and she came out as mainly Textbook with a bit of Spirited thrown in (mainly related to sleeping!)

Yes, Skatty is great at recommending books! I recently bought Helping the Sensitive Child. Haven't gotten thru it all yet but is has helped. I think it's great that you took the time to work things thru in your head, as you said. There will be nights when you still think 'hurry up!' but that's ok. The main thing is to keep a cool head about it and know it'll get easier and easier as she gets older.  :)

Great, thanks, Ill look into those. Did you say your LO has only just started STTN? Our DD is still awful (recently it has been really bad) and Im exhausted! Do you think your LO needed to learn to self settle at least in the day to be able to STTN? Does she still nap?

DD's been able to self settle at her noon nap, and that's only been happening for maybe a month. She's usually ready to pass out, tho the other day I knew it was too early for her nap but she was so whiney, so I tucked her in bed and she lay there talking to herself for an hr before she fell asleep. She was really good. Night time is still hit and miss, but yes she's finally STTN most nights. I'm still there beside her but she's stopped waking to ask for milk or her paci, or whatever. She's a restless sleeper, I call her a rotisserie chicken. I made an apt with a naturopath, going to try allergy elimination. We know she has enlarged adenoids but the herbal stuff I've been giving her has helped her go from snoring to just breathing a bit loud, not that loud. The apt is next monday so I'll ask if there's anything that's affecting her (or DS) sleep. Or if there's something I haven't tried  ::)  that I could give her.

That'll be interesting to see if the naturopath can help. We've got an appointment with the homeopath tomorrow so we'll see if she can help us! BT tonight was pretty awful.

Sorry I missed that question but thanks for answering Little toes  ;) A LO can definitely be spirited when it comes to sleep and then not to scare you they often become more spirited by day as they get older too but I think that is a good thing, I love spirited kids!

Thanks for your reply skatty, I can already see spirited tendencies during the day! It is a bit scary!
We went to the homeopath yesterday, It was very interesting actually, she has given DD (and me!) some remedies to try so we'll see how it goes
