When did you mover your toddler to a BBB?

I want to keep Z in his cot as long as I can, but that is kind of for selfish reasons
So I guess I'm wondering when you did the transition, how did it go, how of was your LO.

It seems IRL my friends have been moving their LOs around 2... Z is in a sleep sack and doesn't try to climb out of his cot yet and he is all over the place when he sleeps, so I see no need to think about it yet...but he is 18 mths and #2 is due when he is 2

Amy at 18 months but she was a very laid back kid and never tried to get out.  Ethan was a couple of months before he turned 4!  I have no doubt whatsoever if we'd done it when he was 2 we would of had months of hell!  I plan on keeping Lewis is for as long as possible.  The other two never tried to climb out of their cot though so the decision wasn't forced for us like it is for some people.  Will see how little rascal Lewis goes with that as he's a bit more of a monkey!

Henry was 2.5 and I moved him as I wanted his cotbed for DD. I would have waited longer otherwise. Having said that it was an easy transition. He loves his bed and has much more room to move about. He is SUCH a wriggler and can fall out of anything so I did a lot of research into the bed I wanted/needed.

DS was 2yrs 2mths because we needed the cot for DD and wanted to move him in plenty of time so he didn't feel he'd been thrown out. DD we moved the weekend she turned 2 because she was desperate to sleep in a bed - we were getting bedtime tantrums . Neither ever climbed out of their cots and both had a very easy transition to big beds (thankfully ).

DS is still in his cot at 28 months and I am not looking forward to move him to a BBB. He's never climbed out, so I think I will move him if he does, otherwise I will leave him there as long as I can... I'm very afraid of the getting out during the night. And anyway he seems to like his cot, and he never asked for another place where to sleep.

DD1 at about 2.5yo, didn't actually plan to but she saw her new bed and was in love and that was it, we couldn't put her back in the cot (she never climbed out so I wouldv'e left it longer)
DD2 will be in the cot for as long as I can get away with it

Leorah was about 2yrs 8 months and she was desperate for a BGB. We waited until she was more than ready and it went so smoothly, the last thing you want is for a spirited fight every bedtime! We used to point out how cosy people in books looked tucked up in their BB and went on trips to Ikea and let her try out the toddler beds so she was so excited about becoming a big girl and getting a bed. We used to even play a game guessing who slept in a cot and who had a BB. If he is happy leave him be  When he gets a bit older you can always do what we did and get him really ready to transfer, L was old enough to know the rules and more than happy with them, she still doesn't get out of her bed until we get her and she is the Queen of Spirit

Last Tuesday!    DS is 3yo8m old.  We were ready to do it ages ago but every time we mentioned it, although he loved the idea of a big bed, he really loved his cot and it was comfortable and familiar to him, and he slept well in it so he always said no, he wanted to keep his OWN bed.  He has transitioned well-enough and we have no issues with getting out in the night (but really, his cot had removeable centre bars and he has been able to climb in and out on his own for 18 months now through the hole) but he has still had some tears this week over his new bed not being as cozy as his old one. He misses having a cozy cot bumper all the way around that he can snuggle into and he hates that his lovey falls out of bed now

We moved DS when he was 3 and 2 months. He was 2 when DD arrived and still in his cot and I didn't want to move him then so we bought him a cot bed and DD got his cot. When we did move him there were no problems at all and he's never once tried to get out of bed.

We moved DS1 at 18mths - he's very spirited but never tried to climb out of his cot - never had any big issues, he only fell out twice.  We plan to move DS2 soon as we have ordered a new wardrobe for the boys room and there won't be enough room for the little cabinet that matches his cot ( would like to ebay them as a set!) so we will move a mattress onto the floor for him and see how it goes (he's 16months).

Just over 2.5yo.  He finally climbed out and since his cot converted to a toddler bed, there was no real reason to wait.  He has slept far better in a bed than he ever did in the cot but I don't know if that's correlation or coincidence.  If he's comfortable and sleeping well and not in danger of injuring himself climbing out, I'd wait.  We waited and I think that's why the transition was so smooth - he kind of told us he was ready.

Yk I am really not sure  . Sometime between 2 and 2.5 I think. Never a big issue for us, although I did use a bed guard until quite recently. What we found was that if he woke in the night he would call and cry for us rather than get out of bed, it was only in the mornings that he would get up and come out (including EWs). I could never enforce staying in his room as the crying would just wake DD.

DD is still in a cot at almost 2 and that is where she is staying  .

DS1 was 2 and the transition went very smoothly.  Like some others have said, he has always called for us instead of getting out of bed.  Even now at 3.5 he will call for me in the middle of the night (but does get up on his own in the mornings which he started doing around 3).  I am not sure what to do about DS2 TBH.  He will be 26mos when the baby is born, and while we do need the crib for the baby I bought a cradle that would probably buy me almost 6 more months, so DS2 can stay in the crib potentially until 2.5+yrs.  I *think* he would do the transition smoothly as he is an angel sleeper and loves to sleep, but at the same time I feel like he does so well in his crib so why change it, kwim?  Also, we plan on moving the boys into the same room soon and I don't think we should do a BBB transition at the same time, rather we could move his crib into the room with DS1 and he can sleep there until they are used to being together.  I don't know though, so many decisions!!  And now I'm just talking my own issues out loud, lol.

Just 2 days ago at 28mo because he discovered climbing out. He is stil in a sleeping bag but he just took it off to climb out the cot. He has a large cotbed so we just took the sides off. We are going through hell at BT as he just will not stay in there and now dh has to sit with him until he's asleep or he gets out and causes havoc. I have a post running about it actually.

He has fallen out of bed a couple of times each night and I have been putting bean bags there to cushion his fall and also just today I have pushed his toy chest next to the bed to stop him falling while we wait for the bedguards to be delivered.

Naps have been non existent since the move as he just spends the entire nap time fighting it.

Ali I put a rolled up towel under Finn's sheet on the side he falls out of the most.  Works a charm.
