Lactose intolerant or MPSI
« on: April 10, 2012, 13:29:13 pm »
How do you know which is it? K suffers from multiple allergies/intolerances and I always thought it was dairy allergy but her symptoms are mainly intestinal apart from mild eczema so I'm starting to wonder if its lactose intolerance rather than MPSI? Any thoughts?

Lactose intolerance gives you an upset and very sore stomach, but not eczema.

MSPI gives you eczema and watery / mucousy / blood in the / poop, plus bloating and excess wind.

MSPI is more common than lactose intolerance in infants.

The only way to know for sure is to try lactose-free dairy products and see if things improve or get worse.

Lactose intolerance is pretty rare as I understand it. Much nore likely to be MPI.
