NW or resettling to sleep - 3 months old
« on: April 11, 2012, 01:20:46 am »
My baby just turn 3 mos and she falls asleep at around 7:30 to 8 pm using shhs/pat then we do a dream feed around 12 am. The past couple of days, she would starts to stir, moan, groan from either 2:30 or 3:30. She also is quite vocal, not crying but loud. Often, she'll opens her eyes briefly and closes them again. Seems like she is trying to resettle back to sleep but she can't quite get there. I have been helping her to resettle by shh/pat but it will start again in 20 min.  This will go on all night till her owning feed at 7 am. I don't know if it's night waking or if she's sleeping. Please help. Should I help her resettle or just let her make those noises even though it will last all night?

How many weeks is she? Have you tred tweakng your feed's and increasing the amount she has as could be a growth spurt. Are you also teaching her the differencebetween night and day? I always talk and interact lots in the daytme feed, with lots of eye contact etc samewith nappy changes. but at night idont talk to baby, always keep the lights low, dont gve to much eye contact etc to teach them nightime is not social time. i still attend to babies needs, and would never not go to hm, but i want him to know the dfference between day and night.does she resettle ok at naps f she strs, and does she self soothe at bedtme? sorry i'm not much help i'm new here! xx

Kim has given you some great advice there and I totally agree with her. Unless your DD is crying and it escalates to an 'I need you now' type cry then I would see if she can sort herself and resettle back to sleep. It could well be hunger from a GS, have you tried feeding to see if she settles after that? At 3 mo going from 12 until 7 without a NF is a really long stretch.

This will go on all night till her owning feed at 7 am. I
The fact she isnt' settling back to proper sleep would make me think it is hunger waking her. She's tired but can't get back over properly as she is hungry.   I'd feed her at 3am when she wakes and see does that help.  At 3 months a DF plus 1/2 night feeds is totally normal.
