front/rear facing pushchairs

If you had the option of forward or parent-facing with your pushchair, when did you swap your little one over from parent facing to forward facing?

DS was well past 1yo before we put him forwards!  Before that we either wanted him to sleep when we were out walking and so he had a blanket hanging in front of him to block out sights, OR we wanted him to stay awake in which case it was easier when he was facing us to make funny faces and talk to him and notice that he was about to doze off.  From about 13-16 months old we just swapped the chair around depending on what we needed/wanted.

I actually ended up buying a new stroller last year for Spencer because she kept twisting around to see me while forward facing (old stroller didn't have rear facing option)...I wish I had realized sooner how much better it was for her to be facing me!  We still use it and she has no desire to face outwards.

I love ones where you have the option. It's so lovely to walk with your child and coo and talk, but when they need a nap, it's also nice to have them face outwards.

If I HAD to choose, definitely facing me.

I kept mine in the carseat clipped into the buggy for as long as possible so they were facing me, probably til about 10mo. Then I didn't have an option so they had to face outwards, but I wish I'd had the option, they would still be facing me now lol!

Logan screams if he can't see out in front (hates going backwards, although maybe he'd like it better now as he's walking backwards out of preference...), so front-facing all the way for me :)

I guess mine were about 7 mths?? Both preferred looking out, or being in the sling.

Same here, although I hated our travel system so I think we moved to front facing a tad earlier, probably about 7 months. I didnt have the rear facing option either, but tbh I think DS would have prefered to have been facing outwards anyhow.

I swapped Henry around 8 months and he much preferred facing out. M I swapped early at about 5 months but mainly because I gave my sister in law our Quinny for her newborn and our Maclaren does not have that option. She was fine - loved looking out.

Henry James and Martha Rose - my spirited pair!
