Physical Activity for toddlers?
« on: May 10, 2012, 20:27:14 pm »
My DS is almost 11 months and not that mobile yet. He's just started crawling and only army crawls, not true crawling. So I don't like to let him crawl around outside because he drags his belly on the ground. He also pulls to stand but he's not anywhere near walking yet. He does love swimming and if we go in the afternoon it really tires him out and BT is super easy :) I'd love to go swimming everyday, but it's so much time and effort for me. Any other physical activities I could do with my DS to tire him out? I think he loves swimming so much because he's actually mobile in the water.

Soft play centres?? Baby gym type stuff? Crawling up the stairs etc at home.

Thanks Rachel & Liz

I've taken him to a baby gym a couple times and he just sits an watches the other babies and big kids. He's not that mobile yet so not really into the baby gym. Maybe we'll try learning the stairs, hopefully that tires him out!

You can throw the sofa pillows on the floor and make an 'obstacle course'.  We used to do that one.  A mini trampoline is also cheap and entertaining.
The tweaking never stops!

A trampoline is a good idea! Probably when he's a bit older. It's nice out now so I let him crawl on the grass, but he's just trying to eat all of it. Which would be fine, except then he spits up.

Thanks Zoey. Yes we tried the stairs yesterday. He wasn't that interested... just looked at me weird when I was crawling up them trying to show him what to do.
