Help!!! School holiday activities
« on: May 20, 2012, 11:52:51 am »
Hi there
Oh no, I just found out we will have about three months off for school holidays coming up soon in a very hot summer. Can anyone suggest what I can do with my 2 & 4yr old during this LONG stretch. What would you do? Particularly outdoor play will be restricted to before 11am.  The rest of the day will have to be in doors.  I'm freaking out, what should I Do?!

What about some easy cookery (fairy cakes, crispy buns, even decorating plain biscuits)?

Craft is also a good one and a lot of discount stores sell crafty things really cheap, plus you can use cartons and boxes that you would usually recycle?

Another thing we sometimes do on a rainy day is make a den using sheets ands the furniture and then have a picnic or tea party in it?

are there places you can go swimming? When it is hot over summer we would go out for a walk etc early on & be home by noon & then go swimming in the afternoon.

Do you have somewhere shady out doors that you can do water play?

Also are there airconditioned shopping centres, I have spend many an afternoon having a milkshake out with the boys just to get us out of the house, we'd often go to the Library (air conditioned) & then afterwards go & have a milkshake.

Not sure what time it gets cooler in the day, but I know when my 2 were younger it was worth having them have shorter night sleep & a nap in the middle of the day so we could enjoy things in the cooler evening... I think why some countries have siestas ;)
