Guidance on Length of time between Feed
« on: May 24, 2012, 07:52:38 am »
Hi, my Lo is 3 months old, he can last for 4 hours between feed.
Is That normal? He's pretty big for his age and he only takes 5-10 minutes feeding time.
is There any rough guide for length of time between Feed? I read the book but only
found guidelines for length of feeding time

Thanks,
nia

My DS was doing that too at that age. Its a little unusual for a BF baby, but if he's happy with that and gaining, wetting enough nappies, etc. go with it. Length of time between feeds is usually 3hr when on 3hr EASY (1.5 A, 1.5 S) and 4hr on 4hr EASY (2hr A, 2hr S)

What does his daytime routine look like?

That's the thing.. he can survives both 4 hr and 3 hr EASY.. i don't remember exactly his routine nowadays.. only he can sleep for 1-2 hour, and wake up 1 to 2 hours.. i look at his cue..
sometimes he'd cry for OT and sometimes not..
i still put him to sleep by rocking and he sleep alot on me :-[ .. i thinking of starting his sleep training but i have to make sure his schedule first.. am i procrastinating ??? ?

is this a common time to adjust from 3 to 4 hr EASY?

It is a common time to start the transition from 3 to 4hr EASY - usually getting to 4hr EASY around 4months.

TBH, I'd stick with it for a couple more weeks just watching his cues and keeping the EAS order. I did 4hr EASY by the clock for 2 or 3 days when DS was 3.5 months, did the sleep training then and because he was used to EAS and was well rested, it took a very short time to train him to sleep in the cot using shush/pat.
