AM is usually around 2hrs 45 mins although this morning he didn't fall asleep until about 2hrs 50 mins.  Didn't seem that tired to me.  He is always super cheerful in the morning and if I didn't go by A time, he'd probably never take a morning nap.

I do too.  DS is always grumpy after those.  Seems like he's OT but he won't let me extend.  I usually take him out after one of those because he's so fussy.  It'd be sooo much easier if these babies could just tell us what they want :).

Yeah I think he's just slightly OT that he can't take a good nap, but not enough to extend...

If our first nap is 1h10 then she is usally ok but if the second nap is 1h10 I have a bear on my hands!!  Luckily we go out every afternoon to get DD1 from daycare and that usually entertains her enough! LOL!

Today was a nightmare for the PM nap.  Cried hard for 30 mins.  I tried holding him, rocking him and nothing would calm him down.  Don't think he was OT because it was only 2hrs 30 mins when I started winding him down, as usual.  I was going to stretch him to 3hrs but he was already rubbing his eyes so put him down and then the crying started.  Ended up having to take him into the car for his nap.  Ugghhh.

Jenn could he possibly have been UT? I hate it when that happens and you just HAVE to APOP the nap at the last minute! Last week I ended up taking a 1h30 walk in 35 degree weather to get him to sleep, I was exhausted after!!

I don't think so as he was really fussy leading up to it and rubbing his eyes.  I was actually thinking he wouldn't do the nap at all so I was glad he actually fell asleep in the car.  He woke at 4:10pm after doing 1hr 30 mins in the car.  Put him to bed at 7pm and fell asleep in a few minutes.  Up at 8pm crying hysterically, obviously OT.  DH had to settle him twice.  Going to bed now because I just know he will be up in a few hours hysterical.  Got to crack this nap thing soon or else I'll go mad!!!

Hugs ladies. 1hr 10 naps for us were usually UT but the WU is miserable as LO is still tired but not tired enough to go back to sleep, therefore behaves as if OT IYKWIM.

Also, teething or other discomfort always causes 45min or 1hr10/15 min naps :-\

I think you are right.  I finally caught on that DS is probably teething even though there's so redness on his gums.  He won't open his mouth long enough for me to get a proper look, but they do look swollen from what I can see and the amount of drool this week is insane.  I have to change his shirt about 3 or 4 times a day because it's drenched.  Maybe the teething has been affecting his naps and I haven't realized it.  DOH!  Bought a Baltic amber necklace for him.  Hope that helps.

Hmmm... wondering if that can be the case with DS, discomfort used to mean 20 min for him, but maybe now that he's older it's more 1h10-1h15. A lot of his naps are like that too.
