ali, glad to hear he had a great night!

cath, great u got an easy bedtime!! K is shocking when i put him to bed atm, which i think is part of his napping dramas actually, some def SA going on. DH puts him to bed and not a peep, and usually naps for him on the weekend too. Tho part of that may be because he is worn out more on weekends too I guess??

GREAT night last night! didnt get him into bed until 6.10pm (was aiming for 6) as he took a while to eat dinner, but he was asleep really quickly and I had to wake him up at 7am this morning!! i do wonder if it will get us into a vicious cycle tho, as i doubt he'll be wanting a nap after that long night sleep. didnt matter today as he has child care on fridays and has only slept once since he started going 2mths ago, but on a regular basis i can see it causing dramas...

That's great Kirry.

We had 6.30pm-7am last night with just a brief waking at 6 for his quilt to be pulled up :)

sounds like people's nights are improving..  hope it continues!

L tends to settle slightly better for DH than for me too.  And she is an absolute angel for her nanny when she puts her down for naps mon-thurs ::)

Hi Ladies, Popping on here to read along as we are having some difficulties at the moment with nap dropping too. DS still needs his nap but is just up till the dawn when he has it. Yesterday he was up until almost 11 after me letting him nap 1.5 hrs in the afternoon....woke up at around 830 this morning. Not really sure how long I should let him nap bc I know he is going to be tired but don't want to compromise BT again! Ahhhhh

Hello :)

Not really sure how long I should let him nap bc I know he is going to be tired but don't want to compromise BT again! Ahhhhh

With L, I have found that during this 1-0 process she is better not having longer CU nap but having slightly EBT (if needs it) instead.  I am now keeping nap short pretty much every day and doing EBT on days where she seems more tired. This is working atm.  Is EBT an option for you?

Hi, If Olly woke at 8.30am I would go for a no nap day and an early BT.

I might try to squeeze in a 30min nap as early as he will take it since he had such a short night and then do an 8pm BT.

Another 6.30pm-7.05qm night last night although I heard him stir just after 6am he must have dropped off again as he looked asleep until he got up.

We are doing about 3 naps a week in the car, normally 11.30 or 12.30 depending on when we go out. And I am sticking to a 7pm BT on nap days.

Thanks for all the quick responses. It is 1:30 and I just put him down for a quick nap. I will try to do a wake-up after about 30 min. I think if I shot for no-nap he would just fall asleep anyway ard 5 and then it would just extend the BT again.

EBT could def. be an option, how early do you normally go? If your LOs have no nap how long is their day typically??

Ali, those sound like some good nights :) Hopefully he keeps it up.

Catherine, am I reading your ticker correctly? Your LO is under 2 and already dropping the nap!?

When we first dropped the daily nap we had some 10.5hr days but now (3 months on) our sustainable no nap day is 11.5-12hrs or there abouts. I try to keep BT at 6.30-7pm so if he got up at 8am for example then I would still do BT by 7pm on a no nap day.
I never do naps of more than 45mins these days.

Unfortunately yes :(  although we haven't actually had a no nap day yet.

L is low sleep needs and if she naps too long it messes up nights.

L now has a 35 min nap and sleeps around 11hr15 - 11h30 each night, occasionally a bit more.  This routine seems to be working really well for her - this is the longest her nights have been for quite a while. When she had 1hr nap her nights were around 10hrs so she got less overall sleep.

I hope this routine lasts a while and I don't have to cap nap any more for a while!

I'm back and UGH!!

I HATE nap days!!

M sleeps perfectly on no nap days, he will go to bed around 5:45 sleeping by 6:00 and WU around 7/7:30am

on nap days, he gets a 45min nap (any shorter and he is wicked grumpy pants) But then he wont go to sleep until 8:30pm and gets up at 6:30am.

Oh what do I do? I know he isnt quite ready for no nap every day, but the late BT and short nights are killers.

I have been trying to stick with a nap every other day, but some days after waking so early he gets tired faster so he will get 2 nap days in a row, followed by 1 no nap day.

OMG please help me!
How do you catch up when they are OT? She didn't nap yesterday which is the first time in about 10 days. Put her to bed after a 12 hr day - couldn't get her down any earlier - she looked wide awake. Anyway she woke at 3 and was awake for 1.5 hrs.
Woke for the day at 6.45 - which is about 10hr 15 night.
Let her have 1 hr nap today. BT was slightly early at 7 and she didn't go to sleep till 9 arrrggghhhhh. DH has to wake up at 6.30 tomorrow so she will get woken by him as she's such a light sleeper. That's 9.5 hrs if we r lucky and she sleeps throu!
Don't know he to let her catch up. If she has long naps she won't go to sleep at night. if she doesn't nap she's OT. I know we r heading for disaster and DD2 was due today so things are going to get even worse with her sleep..........

Can you AP an early nap at all swmw? When Cadan needs a catch up I have been going out driving on the fast roads in the car which sends him to sleep as early as 11am sometimes. I normally only let him have 30-40mins and then still do BT at 7pm. Would something like that work for you?
