I'm sick sick sick  :( the NW are becoming frequent.. Sam is screaming and  :'( he is major OT. He is asking to come downstairs, for me to get into his bed, for a back rub, he is still crying now despite all the WI/WO and back rubs and kind words..done it all. He is now screaming for Daddy as Mammy is clearly not enough. I don't want to sit with him again, as soon as I go to leave he wakes up again, it's like going back 18 months  :'( I am becoming a prop for sure.

I feel he needs his nap back and I haven't the foggiest what to do. I am well and truly fed up now 2 weeks in to this whole palava. I think maybe I should go back to basics and try going from the 1 hour nap that he was having to 45 mins capped consistently for a few days 6 hours from WU and see what BT if any that gets us. Then drop to 30 consistently. But I can't APOP a car nap every day it's not practical and it's expensive.

What would you do  ???

Got to go and back rub again now. I need my bed  :'( and I want my happy boy back.

ETA Went up and gave him a big cuddle then more back rub, he is just not settling. 'I told him Mammy needs to sleep now' left and he is once again screaming. I'm at my limit after 1.5 hours.

Vicki - I haven't read through the whole thread so apologies if it's been suggested but is teeth a posibility? I know with both kids if we had long NWs that they couldn't settle for it was usually pain/ discomfort related - either reflux for them or teeth.

We had a lot of NWs like these from DS around the time DD was born, when she was a few weeks old I happened to look in his mouth one day and there were 3 molars through and 1 part way through. It just didn't occur to us at the time that it could be his teeth as he wasn't complaining of his mouth hurting at all.

{{HUGS}} I would do a nap today but cap it and do it early to preserve bedtime.

Hi Laura,

Yes he has a 2nd year molar half cut through. It hasn't seemed to trouble him at all and I have given no meds recently. I did at first but when he seems to be in  no discomfort I didn't like to for the sake of it you know. At the NW I asked him if his new tooth hurt and he said no. I tried to get him to take his medicine, which he gives to himself in a syringe feeder, but he didn't want to take it and I hate having to pin him down to do it, it ends in so much upset and gagging  :'(. The molar has been at the back of my mind all through this but like you say when there seems to be no discomfort it's hard to believe it's to blame, but I guess I need to accept it may be.

But could the whole episode be down to teething and I have changed his routine when it's a temporary situation  ??? I still feel he was UT at BT in my gut. So today I am going back to basics and trying for:

6.20 WU (wasn't trying for that bit!  ::))

12.15 to 1.00 nap (he's going to be hard to wake  :'( and haven't got the car to APOP)

What time BT  ??? so hard to strike a balance between OT and UT  :(

Thanks so much for popping on Laura  :-*

Vicki.x.

If you can get nap I would probably aim for in bed for 7, earlier if no nap. I haven't gone by A times for a long time though, we have done a set bedtime since before DD was born and just included her in the routine. We start running the bath at 6.30 on a normal night, 6 if they are more tired or up early so they are in bed by 7 (6.30), some nights they go straight off, some not so much but at least they are in bed ;).

That said they are both poorly at the moment (him more so than her) and have both been awake since 5.30 (very unusual these days :o), so they will be in bed for 6 tonight ::) ::)

Sorry this is such a mess.
I would do 7pm latest but maybe even 6.30 if he will have it. Personally I stayed with k when he couldn't settle. I weaned it ok but still stay occasionally but he is out in 2mins and I enjoy the lie down.
The other thing that works is I tell him I need to go bathroom or check dinner or something and will be back soon if he lies nicely. I don't think he has ever been awake when I go back but the thought I am coming back is enough to let him settle.

LOL my trump card that is currently failing. Great minds think alike.

Thank you Hun. Will see what time nap is/if it is  ??? then decide on BT.

Was going to try for quiet time/nap at 12.10 when Daddy came in with 2 friends so that was game over. Bye the time they had gone back out it was 1.15 and I took him up, nice story in the dark then explained shut your eyes baby, this is your nap time or quiet time to relax, so you feel better. He stood at the baby gate shouting 'IT'S NOT QUIET TIME IT'S NAUGHTY TIME! ME NOT TIRED!' we're doomed. He's now climbing on me like a climbing frame.

EBT attempt next.

Erm..................................... :-\ I don't know  :'( My brain hurts trying to figure it out. I think you know how that feels  :(.

10.5 day would mean 4.40 BT so no way. Maybe 5.30 and pray for a 'super tack'

Watcha reckon  ???

Our only saving grace right now is that he is enjoying lying on the sofa snuggled in a blanket watching a movie, and he's happy to do that. But on the other hand I feel like he could do with some exhertion and fresh air to help BT. Everything in my head contradicts  >:(.

it is so hard as I don't do bedtime before 6.30pm for my two as they don't really tack so am not the best person to ask...if he will tack then I would go as early as you dare....

H def needs physical exercise to sleep well and his best nights are usually after really physical days.
