Yes, us too on the no nap / short nap day. Definitely had several occasions where a nap actually made things worse. Early bedtime always fixed things better for us when short a times started being a problem... If your LO handled 2-1 well you might find he surprises you and copes better than you think and 30 minute naps have saved us a few times if you think he needs something.

Also, it might be worth picking a routine you think will work (one for nap days and a rule which says if he's not asleep by x time he's obviously not tired enough to nap and do ebt instead), and then stick to it for a food few days. I'm a terrible one for tweaking and have realised recently that if I pick a routine and stick to it, it gives Lily the chance to work her way through any issues and sort herself out. Even if there's no improvement for a couple of days.... It's really hard to do, but I normally end up writing off one day, thinking I can't possibly make things worse and pushing her a bit, just to set the scene for a new routine. She often surprises me when I do.

It's tough though, I really feel for you. X

Morning Ladies,

Well a better night, he slept 8.40 PM to 7.20 AM so 10 hours 40. I am shooting for a 'no nap' day with a 5.45 PM BT. Although he is with my Mam today, so he may end up having a 'cat nap' in the car on the way home around 1.30/2.00 but it's only a 15 minute drive so it shouldn't be too detrimental and may even help.

If today works out and gives us a good night I am thinking of shooting for alternate no nap days/cat nap days or going with a 7.30 AM or later rule = no nap.... earlier = 30 minutes nap. But hey we all know that a good plan doesn't always mean a good result  ::)

Thanks Ladies,

Becky, think OT is inevitable today but I will certainly know whether it was the short term UT proving to be the biggest enemy when we put down for BT, if we manage a no nap day that it. OT in the long term, I am going to have to watch like a hawk for several months I reckon, can't wait!  ;)

yes, that is a joy of the 1-0. H stopped properly napping at 3 and 7 months later we still fight the OT.

Morning Ladies,

Sam handled the day beautifully and didn't tell me he was tired until 4.30pm. He was finishing his Dinner at 5.10 when I noticed he had the '7 mile stare' so I whipped him out and up to bed, 1 story and lights out, there was signs of 'monkey business' starting so I went straight in with a back rub and ZZZZZZZZZZ. Asleep 5.30 pm  :o was shooting for 5.45. 2 very brief NW, the first time he fell out of bed (somehow ended up swapping ends) and the 2nd one I'm not even sure he was awake but was asking for his blankie which he  couldn't find, so neither of them appeared to be OT NW.  Awake at..drum roll please!...........6.50 am  ;D 13 hours 15 ish sleep. So this afternoon he is at nursery and I don't think for the life of me he'll nap beforehand, otherwise I would shoot for a 20 min car nap to help him through. Maybe drive around at noon. What do you think  ???

Any ideas on optimum nap length and time and BT  ???

Great night! If he's well rested after that long night I think I'd shoot for another no nap day :)

Agreed Ladies, just a bit concerned as nursery can be tiring emotionally and physically for him, and he is still upset when I leave him at the moment, so I hope he deals okay  :(.

Another no nap day. Sam went to nursery but I picked him up early and they said he was tired. He told me he was tired at 4.30 (becoming the norm) but I was making DH Dinner and ironing shirts for him before he went to work, plus feeding Sam and so on and so forth so I didn't get him down until 6pm. I left him tonight but he was playing around so I went back in and stayed with him, he was asleep by 6.15pm so his day was too long at 11 hours 25 mins  :(. He was 'wired'. When he was lying in bed he was just nattering away total nonsense before he finally nodded off. I was half expecting a 45 minute WU but no. He usually wakes/is unsettled around 2 hours after going over on no nap days for some reason  ??? FX'd for a decent night again.

Erm..... :-\ depends on WU time. Also not sure what time I would need to do the nap or BT to succeed  ??? But I do know it would be a cat nap and no more...erm...I think  :-\.

Hi Ladies,

Well another good night with 6.15 pm to 7.15 am  ;D

BUT: I am worried about what some of you said that OT will probably creep in if every day is a no nap day. Can you please advise if/when I should do a nap day, how long for and at what time  ???

Thanks Vicki.x.
