Sorry, to add to that, he never 'cues' hunger, if I left him to it, I think he'd eat at most every four and a half hours! We've been on a four hour easy since four months and it's suited him well...

Surely if I mix baby rice with ebm, it's the same as giving extra bm? I'd prefer to do this as he refuses breast between feeds, and it seems daft to faff with an extra bottle for the sake of an ounce or two (which is all he'd take)! at least this way I can make getting extra milk into him a fun eating game in his a time? He is very nearly six months now after all...

Just watch out with the rice that you don't bulk his tummy with that to the detriment of getting in sufficient BFs (fewer calories/fats, but harder to digest), which could then give you constipation issues and NWs because of that and hunger.

Obviously the choice is yours, but IIWM, I'd leave the rice, try to get in another feed for a few days until the GS passes and then introduce something more tasty when starting weaning :)  Good luck

Right, today's fiasco:

Last night
Bt 8
Df 11
Woke at 2, nothing would settle him until if fed him, then slept through until 7!
A 7
E 7.30
S 9.50
A 11.20
E 11.30

Then it fell to pieces....
S 1300 (in car, accidentally!)
A 1320

Then....
Attempted nap at 1500, no go

E 1530

Attempted nap at 1600, sitting in his room now listening to him refusing to sleep!

Surely 20 mins in the car can't screw up his afternoon nap entirely? It's been 2 and a half hours since he had that mini nap mow, why won't he sleep?

My LO is on one nap now, usually 2hr15, but if she has a little catnap mid-morning she will fight fight fight another nap all day! So I would think it could ;) If he doesn't fall asleep soon, I think I would cut my loses, start bt routine soon and get him into bed for the night as early as possible.

That was a great morning though, I think you're on the right track with increasing the A times. And if he can do long nights like he did last night, you know you can go with EBT rather than a cn, if his second nap finishes a bit early.

Just wondering if you've seen this support thread?

Cheryl - sorry to hear of your nap troubles! It looks like things are beginning to get sorted though? :)

I had a question for you since our LO's are around the same age (mine's 5.5months) and you had mentioned that pushing A time really helped.

when you did this, was it a fight to keep him up? Or did he gladly stay up? We still can't get more than 2 hours or 2hours 15mins before first morning nap without feeling like I'm being really mean by forcing her to stay up....still with the 30min naps and not always sure if UT or OT. I have my own thread going, so i don't mean to barge in while you're trying to sort out your own stuff, but just curious how your LO acted when trying to extend A times.

Thanks and happy mommying!

He fought if we did Anything exciting, but I would just sit on the sofa with him quietly, him sucking on his dummy (paci!) for the extra few minutes, maybe with the radio on quietly. He could sit quite quietly doing this for the extra few minutes each day. Alternatively I'd walk quietly round the house or garden with him on my shoulder - needed to do the stretching gradually! We're now at a pretty regular 2 50 a time, and spend the last ten minutes watching tv quietly together on the sofa, or reading a book, before heading up to his bedroom.
