Dark enough for sleep??
« on: June 26, 2012, 00:13:10 am »
Not sure if this should be posted here.
it has been one month since we moved into our new home and the girls love it. At our previous home, Madison's room was really dark. We had california shutter, a roller shade and blackout blinds. Can you picture it?? LOL
Anyhow, in her new room she has an arched window which was really hard to blackout. I did shutters and blackout blinds, but the blackout blinds doesn't cover the arch part.  When she goes to sleep, her room is still light. She doesn't seem to mind but at night, the street light shines some light into her room. I am not sure if I should further darken her room or just leave it as is, since it acts as a night light.
what do you think? Do you guys still have the rooms pitch black??

My sons isn't completely dark, but it never really has been. Have you tried temporarily rigging it so that it is totally black just to see if it helps?  I wouldn't use brain cells working on something put together or nice if you're unsure if it's going to make a difference. Is it possible that the street light is casting shadows and causing some fear? We had to to make sure that my sons gro light is off or else it casts shadows and bothers him.

I think I am going to paste some black bristol board to see if that makes a difference.  I never thought of shadows.

If it doesn't bother her I wouldn't do anything about it. both mine sleep fine with a bit of light now.

mine still have darkness but they are both spirited so it is necessary. I would love to get rid of them though! If she does not mind then I would leave it.

I went to go buy black bristol board and they were all out. What are the odds?? is it a sign.

We do have shutters on the top arch but when she goes to sleep her room is not dark b/c of that arch.
