4 to 3 bottles perhaps?
« on: July 07, 2012, 12:18:05 pm »
Hi,

My LO is 7.5mo and is taking 4 bottles per day (plus an occasional NF if he wakes, not very often though). He used to take 8oz bottles but since weaning he is gradually reducing these to anywhere from 3-7oz. Our typical EASY looks something like this -

UP 0530
E 0600 (usually around 6oz)
Breakfast (porridge or weetabix) 1hr later
S 0830 - 1000
E 10-1030 depending on WU (can be anywhere between 3-6oz)
Lunch (meat/fish and veg plus fruit/yogurt) 1hr 30 later
S 1300 - 1430
E 1430 (usually 6/7oz)
Dinner (usually a snack rather than full meal such as fruit/rice cakes/yogurt) 1hr30 later
E 1730 7oz
BT 1830

We are trialing set naps ATM from advice on the general sleep problems board so sometimes the last bottle creeps up to 1700pm if we have to do EBT. We are hoping to shift the day forward an hour or so to eliminate EW.

Can you help advise when i would be looking at reducing to 3 bottles? In a day he takes usually 20-25oz.

TIA  :)
Samantha

Babies normally drop to 3 bottles around 9/10 months and usually to get the milk intake back up. We dropped to 3 with my DD at 8 months because she wasn't even getting 20oz. In your case milk intake is ok, they say 20oz MINIMUM from 6 months with solids so really I would leave things as they are until the two daytime bottles are getting refused or really reduced then combine them into 1.

When you do drop to 3 the normal pattern isto do a wake up bottle, one after lunch before the pm nap and then at bedtime.

HTH!

Ok, great thanks. I'll keep things as they are for now.  :)
