It's the different between giving advice or giving support/information.

I believe the way that most BF counsellors/LCs are trained is to provide information and support in order for mum to make the decision on what is the best way to go forward rather than trying to put forward their personal opinion on them.  Certainly part of the ABM (abm.me.uk) BF peer supporter training that is done before BFC training is dealing with and processing your own BF journey so that you're not putting that onto other people and are able to be more objective with the support you're giving.

He'll be all happy and relaxed from his bath and a little mini-massage with lotion, and I'll bring him to my breast, and he'll skip straight to the little sips/crying part. I can feel the milk in my breasts, but he just won't drink it. That's probably the worst part of the day for me because I just want one last cuddle before bed.
We had issues with this feed for a while and I just jumped in the bath with him, let him latch when he was ready and he fed really happily there - is that an option?

I think a lot of the formula pushing comes from a place of love - they just see BFing as being a really stressful thing for you and want to fix it for you and make you happy.

So glad that you've had that frank conversation with your mum and that you're relaxing about it a bit too. Progesterone can really drop your supply - I had a major drop monthly when my period came back :( DS also just didn't want to drink my milk either, almost like it changed taste or something :-\

Well done for following your mummy instinct. Hugs for the continuing difficulties. xx

I wanted to write more this morning but had a toddler with me and had to run to work- I think this as well- your mum wanted the best for you, and the bubba who i'm sure she LOVES to bits!! It's pretty hard this balancing mums and their intentions and your emotions hey!

I found a dip with my period too- it was like the let down stopped or something- one feed he even stopped and looked at me all puzzled!!

Apparently it does (people nursing older, verbal toddlers have asked) :)
