Our ped. said DD could switch to whatever the family drinks at 2 years of age. I told them we drank fat free (skim) and they said that was totally fine for her as well. If she had weight issues or something they may have wanted more fat but otherwise they felt there was no need as she got enough fats from other foods in her diet.
So then we only bought ONE type of milk
....until DS couldn't handle dairy and now we buy skim and almond milk LOL
