Jolts
« on: August 10, 2012, 09:17:14 am »
Sorry to go on about this, but as mentioned in another post my 12 week old keeps being woken up from his naps by the jolts, I try to stop it and sometimes I am successful and other times I am not, to be honest the majority of the times it's a disaster and he wakes up completely.
I find that trying to get him to stay asleep takes over the whole day and I am finding it mentally exhausting. Can someone tell me when will they be able to sleep through this? When will they be able to transition to the other phase of their sleep without waking themselves up?

The same would happen to my DS who is 14 weeks :( it was really getting me down to. I started to swaddle him about 4 weeks ago and we are now having long naps and the jolts are no longer waking him :). Worth a try xx

The big jolts ended around 4.5 mths with DS1 and 5 mths with DD.  We have a 4 mth old DS who is still waking consistently at 35 min every nap from jolts.  I try to extend by patting.  It OCCASIONALLY works.  What I do sometimes is APOP and move him to his swing at that 35 min time when he wakes and he will finish his nap in there.  Does your little one sleep in the swing?

I also just thought, the jolts are worse with OT...that said, it's easier to extend OT naps than UT too so they generally just stink :( :-*

Thanks ladies.

Lori , no my LO will not sleep in the swing

I do swaddle him but it doesn't make a difference, it does really get me down cause I spend all day long trying to get him to nap, he is now 3 months so hopefully he will grow out of it soon.... He does sleep great at night (hope I don't jinx it now) usually from 7 til 6am so can't understand why when it comes to napping he gets woken up by jolting and not at night
