Falling asleep eating
« on: August 12, 2012, 02:01:51 am »
My lo won't stay awake when he is eating.  I think he is maybe overtired, but if he isn't, how can I keep him awake when he is eating.  I have tried alot of the things people suggest. Also, he pulls back at my breast while still latched on and squirms and grunts and then goes back on a does it again. Why is he doing this?

Both my babies were super sleepy at the breast at that age :)  The total Awake time they could tolerate was 1-1h15m, including feeding, changing, etc.

The pulling away and squirming sounds like gas to me.  I would try to burp him or bicycle his legs to help him work it out.  Doing this might also wake him up a little so he will eat more.
