Quinoa as First Food
« on: August 14, 2012, 18:59:01 pm »
I am going to start introducing solids to my DS around 6 months of age and wondering what peoples thoughts are to giving quinoa as a first food.  My thoughts are that quinoa is better than rice as it would have everything an adult needs for a complete meal but not to sure if that applies to a baby.

I remember reading in one of the posts that babies have an easier time processing protein and fats than carbohydrates which I thought it was interesting but not sure where that information came from.  Does anyone know?

i've only just started with solids so am not really the one to be giving advice, but on my sister's advice, i introduced a 4-grain cereal as her first "rice".it has 42 % quinoa, 42% wholegrain rice, 11 % millet and 5% amaranth.on the advice of my PHN, i used pear & apple as first foods, but we've been on the cereal for a week now & she's loving it!HTH
