ff should dd be on 4 hour easy
« on: August 18, 2012, 07:55:10 am »
Hi my baby is now 10 weeks old and has been exclusively ff since 6 weeks she  has been quite fussy with  feeding recently sometimes she feeds every 3 hours then its sometimes 4. She takes between 130-170ml per feed, but sometimes only 110 then takes between 90-120ml at dreamfeed she sleeps all night most nights from 8or9 depending how feeding has gone to 7am she weighs 13 pound so should be taking over 950ml a day but is only taking between 770-850ml on occasions she takes 900 ml. Should we start her on 3.5 or 4 hour easy? Did Tracey say ff babies should be on hr routine?

Foormula fed babies should be on a 3 hour routine at 10 weeks, to move to longer routines babies need to be able to do longer A times and the 4 hour EASY is not until about 4 mon ths. That said, formula fed babies do sometimes need to move to longer feed intervals sooner but it makes EASY really messy because they aren't able to do the A times.

You could try her on a 3.5 hour EASY and see if that helps the feeds, you will have to do something like EASAE to make sure she doesn't get OT though and watch you don't feed to sleep if E comes right before S!

HTH!
