Stool testing for lactose intolerance
« on: August 19, 2012, 14:05:03 pm »
At DS1's hospital appointment on Friday the Dr gave us a jar and paperwork for a stool sample to test for lactose intolerance.

Since our GP is closed at the weekend I plan to get the sample tomorrow and take it in but I didn't think to ask her whether he needed cow's milk in his system for them to get an accurate result (we have put him on skimmed goat's milk and reduced his intake of milk).

Does anyone know?

If he's had any cows milk in the last week he should be fine.

Thanks. Skadiver.

He's been on goat milk for about four weeks. I guess it should work though, right? I guess he would still have a reaction going on with the lactose in that - just not as pronounced?
