« on: August 20, 2012, 11:32:18 am »
My dd is now 13 months and up until last week was a really good eater and would eat 90% of thing put in fron of her whether it was finger food or a meal spoonfed.

She weill now only eat cereal, fruit and yogurt. She can recognise what they look like and if you give her anything different she won't even open her mouth. She will eat rubbish like fish fingers, chicken nuggets burger, chips etc.

I make everything myself so it is all homemade. he is her typical day.

10.00am plays
12.00pm chicken casserole, fish pie, pasta refuses point blank. offer fruit eats all up
1.00pm nap
2.00pm fruit snack
5.00pm lasagne, beef in a gravy with rice, pasta bake refused point blank

Hi, your DD isn't teething is she? My DD always gets really fussy with her food when her teeth are bothering her. Also it is pretty common for toddlers to go through fussy phases. So if it is that it is likely it will pass soon. Does she eat her lunch if you don't offer the morning snack?

No she refuses her lunch thats why I have cut out the snack so that she will hopefully want her dinner. The starnge this is she is actually hungry I put ambosol on her teeth but I don't think it is that as if you give her one of her favourite foods she will eat that

When my DD is teething she does still eat but becomes much more selective like you describe. It is almost as if food tastes funny to her. So if you think she is teething it could be that. Have you tried offering foods that you know she will eat alongside her meals so at least she is eating something but you are still offering her meal. Then maybe avoid giving a pudding of fruit in case she is holding out for that. I am sure that this will just be a phase hun that will pass, so try not to worry too much.

I would think either teething or possibly hand/foot/mouth if she has recently had what looked like a cold.  13 months is a bit young for "testing" resistance, but she may just be going through a picky phase.  Best results I have had was to serve what I thought were balanced portions of the various foods, all at once so that i was not "holding out" and there was no frustration/gameplaying.   Hope she is feeling better soon.

We always have major fussy phases with teething, especially at this age with the 1 yr molars starting to move. same kind of things Z would eat too - yogurt, crackers, bread, fruit ::) or rubbish.

I found a few things that were healthy but he liked still ie instead of fries, Z wold eat kumera fries but baked in the oven with just some olive oil. Instead of fish fingers I got him eating John dory fish nuggets (designed for adults really but he loved them and heart foundation tick 100% fish)
