Generally worried :(
« on: August 30, 2012, 09:10:30 am »
Hiya my DD is 12 weeks and on a 3 hour easy. The last few night she has refused a dreamfeeding so goes 7-7. During the day she only nurses for 10 mins every 3 hours and if i try to get her feeding more she fusses and pushes away from my breast. Im worried that she isnt getting enough milk from me. She has plenty of wet nappys but only produces a dirty one every 3/4 days. She tends to spit up a but of sicky milk when she burps. Should i be worried about reflux or any other problems??

Hiya, sounds like you have a super-efficient feeder there!  If she's having plenty of wet nappies and gaining weight well, then personally I wouldn't worry about her milk intake.  BF babies can go quite a long time at this age without a dirty nappy - my DDs record was 2 weeks!!!  Spitting up a bit with burps can be very normal - does she have any other symptoms that might suggest reflux e.g. difficulty settling, not liking sleeping flat, discomfort etc?

i was always worried about my LO too cause from 8 weeks-ish she went from 10.30pm-7.30am without a feed.i used to take her to be weighed every week @ a free clinic-really put my mind at ease!

she is quite a gassy baby but usually settles fine on her back. Shes gaining weight well too. Probably just worrying over nothing (as us mums tend to do alot lol) shes going through a growth spurt aswell i think theres one around the 3 month mark so might be why shes feeding less but more often during the day!! xx

To me it sounds like she's done after 10min if she's pushing you away.
My LO is now managing a full feed around 5min and I think was doing 10min at around the same age as yours.
If there is weight gain and wet nappies I wouldn't worry and enjoy the night's sleep you are finally getting:)
As for the poop, mine goes 1x a week:)

Just to reiterate what the others have already said, really.  Chances are if this isn't the GS, then you might find you get some NFs creeping back in in the next couple of weeks (another BIG spurt around 4m/16w), but that's not a problem, just need to roll with it and feed.

If she seems happy in herself and is getting wet (even if not dirty) nappies regularly and gaining weight ok then she's most likely good.

As for the poos, I think my DS's record was in excess of 20 days, but, boy, did he need to go then!!! :o
