Now she seems more settled due to gaviscon her activity time has increased to an hour and fifteen to an hour and a half (that is including feeding)
That's perfect for this age :)

Once she's nice and settled in the routine and sleeping happily in your arms (not fighting sleep there), you can start putting her down a little more awake every day or two and do the last bit of settling in the cot so you're gradually withdrawing your assistance.

Well it was all going so well. My LO was so much more settled after a gaviscon trial, which helped with our routine and everything!! However, then she got constipated from the gaviscon  :( and it's all gone so wrong again!! After returning from the doctor, who says experiment with giving her less gaviscon and if she becomes constipated to give her lactulose, that's what we are doing. I am confused though, surely there is a more natural way to deal with constipation in a bubba (I am exclusively breastfeeding - isn't there somethging I can eat that will help her?) Also, she is a fuss pot but she rarely screams out in pain like she used to so sometimes I am wondering reflux or just spirited??

You can get thickeners hun, but typically they are for bottles so you may need to express if you wanted to trial an alt which won't cause constipation...
Have you considered giving her probiotics for the tummy?

http://www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz/alternativetherapies/probiotics/ ;) I found them brilliant for Z, and can't do any hard. You can take them, or offer them to her directly in milk or food :-*

Not sure if prunes will go through the milk...

I like it too :) easy to understand too when you have no idea what is going on with your tiny bubba ;) It is refered by Drs to us mums here. :-*

The other thing is maybe its worth asking your Dr for a Zantac/Ranitidine trial instead of the Gaviscon. Zantac wont help minimise the spit up, so if volume is the problem then it wont help, but it discomfort/acid reflux is the problem it will probably do a better job than the Gaviscon and your less likely to have issues with constipation etc.

Thank you, on the website there are a list of foods that can intensify reflux (fruit juice, tomotoes, chocolate, fatty and spicy foods, tea and coffee) As I am breast feeding do you think it would help to cut those out of my diet? I have had a lot of chocolate, fruit juice and tomatoes  :-\

Yes cutting out gassy, acidic and fatty foods can help, as can trying a dairy elimination diet for 2 weeks as a lot of refluxers also have a dairy intollerance.
I found the 1 thing to avoid for me and Z was orange juice. You could try apple or cranberry juice as a substitute?
That all said, you don't want to deprive yourself either too much so do what is achievable for a few weeks, then review. If you do dairy elimination you do have to do all dairy though for a good 2 weeks.
