A little befuddled
« on: September 15, 2012, 17:03:00 pm »
My 4mo LO is on a 3.5hr EASY working towards shifting to a 4hr EASY.  We are currently working on getting our afternoon naps in order, but I was wondering; if she wakes up early from a nap and cannot be resettled, her A time is counted from when she woke up correct? So what happens in this situation:

Wake up 7:15

E: 7:30
A: 7:15 - 8:40
S: 8:40 - 10:20

E:11:15
A: 10:20 - 12
S 12 - 1

E: should be at 3, but given the short nap, S should happen at 2:30 correct?  Do I go ahead and feed her early?

Hi honey! Transitions can be really tricky! I would suggest though that you try pushing the  time up a bit more as that may help you to get the feeds and naps working better. The short nap (1 hour) might be because she's not tired enough for a long one. Bu pushing up the A time closer to 2 hours (do this slowly- 10/15 mins every few days) you will have more time between feeds, and the nap may get longer.

In the interim you may need to shuffle things around a bit- so yeah- feed her early, jut try to make sure there's some A time in there at least before sleep to avoid feeding to sleep.

When getting short naps then yes, you are playing around with the E and could feed her in the middle of her A or close to the S but not too close that she doesn't associate it with sleep.
I do, however, think her A time is still short and maybe that's why you are getting short naps, are you working right now on extending A?

LOL, posted same time as Katy. Great minds work alike  ;D ;D
