More nap resistance please help!
« on: September 22, 2012, 00:22:35 am »
Benji's been at an am AT of 3HRS 10 for about 5 days and happily napping for up to 2 HRS. He's just gone down crying.

Last time he cried and resisted settling, he was definitely UT as he'd done progressively shorter naps in the days leading up to the nap resistance.

This time he was crying before I put him in the cot. Oh ladies, how I hate this. Not just being foxed by what AT he actually needs. But also dealing with how I feel when he cries/doesn't settle. When is he actually crying and when do I need to go in to him to APOP etc.? What do I do the next day? All this is driving me crazy. He sounds like he needs me, but does he (he is so vocal and his mantra cry can be like a scream, you know)?

He's one week short of 8 months by the way. I'm sweating here, he's been complaining loudly for 10 minutes now :((

Same for his afternoon nap. Resisting like hell. I can't work it out. Only just stretched to a new AT less than a week ago. We got one 20 minute and one 30 minute nap but all the rest were good. I assumed overtired. Now I think he's UT. I am lost ladies this is going on for far too long :(

Sorry guys, just to clarify. Powerful mantra cry so at 20 mins in I APOPed on the boob and he fell asleep pretty much straight away. Put him in his cot and he's asleep. But it's 4.10pm - he usually wakes from his arvo nap around now.

Should I cap this nap at 30mins and give him a later bedtime?

Typical (good) EASY looks like this atm:

E: 7am
A:
S: 10.12 (settled 10.24) - 12.20
E: 12.30
A:
S: 3.34 (APOP and settled 4.06)
now what??

I wonder if after several days of solid 2hr naps, he was so caught up on sleep that he needed another increase?

What did you do yesterday? The A to bed after a 30 min nap would have been very short for my LO, no more than 2 hours, so I would have been inclined to give 45 mins :)

How is today going?

xx

Thank you Papaya!

I did about 2HR 30 to BT that night. But the next day we got only two one hour naps, an EBT and an EW.

I've stretched his AM AT to 3HR 20 this morning and am on tenterhooks.

Thank you. I didn't realise that a few days of 2 hr AM naps could mean he'd need more time. I thought we'd got OT naps a few days ago; so confusing :(
