Lying back to feed can help, as it just means the milk is flowing across/against gravity so its not quite so forceful. http://www.biologicalnurturing.com/ this is often helpful...

Trying the lay-back feeding for a few days then, could that be all it takes??!!

I dont think my doc will be interested in exploring the reflux route - O is a happy little chunk during the day :)

Could be all it takes. Hope it helps!

Do you think its just overactive letdown or maybe an oversupply as well? I think try the laid back feeding and evaluate from there.

Yay for independent nap and bedtime :)

Its not an exact science I know but if I express I get an ounce very quickly, it squirts out! after that its much slower and can't get more than 2oz total from each side. I don't leak at all these days. So I'm thinking letdown only?

Thanks so much for your input  :D

Yeah, I think from what you've said its probably letdown only. Hope you continue to see improvement :)

So, not as good a night as I would have hoped for  :( I gave him a df at 11pm (don't normally do df) but he was awake a few times still including one long waking. I didn't clock watch but think we must have had some decent stretches as I don't feel too wrecked today!

We'll keep persevering and tweaking, going to skip the df tonight

DF was never something that worked for us... worth dropping to see if that helps. DS used to be up a lot after a DF with gas pains :(

Glad you're not feeling so wrecked today. Hope things continue to get better. How's your day routine looking?

Hi

Yesterday was a bit unusual and wonky

Wake 7.40-8am?
Nap 10.20-12.35
Nap 4.00-5.10
Asleep 8pmish

Normally it looks a lot better, all pushed earlier (wake at 2hrs if necessary) and we have a cn.

He went down like an angel for the 2 naps  :)

Tonight not going too well......its 2am here and I just resettled him without feeding (he REALLY wanted it) and that was his 3rd waking, he fed the other times.

I'm still going with the pain idea, wondering about infacol or gripe water? We used them when he was younger but I just assumed he had outgrown the need, and he had been sleeping much better than this.

Thanks :)

Laura

I agree.

If you feel like he might need it, it's definitely worth trying.

Glad you're seeing an improvement.  Sometimes other eyes help even more (thanks Bec!)

It's been lovely settling him more easily for naps but the nights arent really any better!

I try not to clock-watch in the night (too depressing!) But think I need to start writing down what's actually going on and when, it might help?

I honestly appreciate all of the input so much  :)

So your days are now good with two solid naps and a catnap when required?

If so, yes I think you need to check the times when he wakes so you can see if there's a pattern.

Um, not really  :-[

Yesterday we slept in so it was something like

Wake 8:30
Nap 11:30-12:20
Nap 3:05-5:25
Asleep 8pm

We have lots of unavoidable things to work around today so its going to be another messy nap day

Sorry i am still here.... :P Still trying to feed lying back, for the 1st few mins at least

We are using the swaddle again, he's so much better with It. Obviously have mixed feelings, he's not able to roll from back to front at all but it wont be much longer and then I will have to wean the swaddle.

Today went like this (not perfect but hey!)

8am wake
10:30-11:20 nap
1:30-3 nap
5:50-6:30 nap
8:15 asleep

Tomorrow I should be able to help him have a good routine but although a good routine day is always more pleasant for everyone it doesn't seem to coincide with good night sleep...
Im thinking about 'giving up' but I haven't worked out exactly what that might involve  ;)

Oh yes, I said I would keep a log of what's happening during the night, I'll start it tonight.
