Quick question regarding solids for 4.5month old
« on: September 28, 2012, 18:24:47 pm »
Yes I know this is early, and I have no plans to make solids the main staple but. My LO is 4.5 months and has reflux. He's not really interested in eating from a bottle right now but he has too as he's allergic to soy and milk and is on special elemental formula.  So to get some extra calories in him (he's only eating 19oz a day right now) I'm introducing him to organic baby oatmeal. Any idea of when I should feed it too him and how much? Or what books are good to learn this stuff?

Hun I would start with ripe pear, it s the most gentle fruit on the tummy.
Other very safe foods are sweet potato, pumpkin and apple though some refluxers may not tolerate apple.
Cereals are hard to digest so could be tough on your LO :-\

Breakfast, 45 mins after the first feed or so is a good time to start as you can see any adverse effects by the end of the day.
