BLW mummies - snacks?

What do you give for snacks? I'd really like Audrey to think about dropping a BF now, but I struggle with snacks because of the mess. She can't manage a spoon yet so something like a yoghurt is really not practical in terms of 'a quick snack'. Fruit isn't really filling? She doesn't care for banana (the only thing she doesn't much like).

You could try making her some cheese straws - they are really easy to make and you end up with loads so they could last for ages. Also rice cakes, raisins, bread sticks - e was practically weaned on the goodies carrot sticks and sweet corn rings!

I didn't do BLW but my son was having finger food based snacks from around 8/9 months. I've got loads of baked options on my blog which are good for snacks and salt or sugar free:

I also did a whole post about snacks:

Apart from that what about dried fruit, cheese, blueberries?

we definately did bananas, rice cakes, mini sandwiches, raisins, cheerios, frozen yoghurt pops (in summer when naked LOL) as well as all those lovely Goodies when back in Ireland and had them available.

Cheese and crackers, omelette cut into strips, rice cakes, toast with either sweet or savoury spread, pizza cut into small strips, how about strips of fruit and yoghurt for dipping? Toasted veggies with hummus or breadsticks and hummus?

DS loved/still loves spinach & cheese scones - greens, carbs, dairy, fats all rolled into one

The savoury muffins in the Gill Rapley BLW recipe book are gorgeous. They have cheese, red onion, spinach and a tiny bit of paprika. We all love them. Haven't made them in ages though. Will definitely do a batch this weekend.
If you haven't got the recipe book I don't mind copying it up for you.
Our snacks at that age tended to be chunks of cheese, cucumber/breadsticks/cheese straws with dips such as houmous or dried fruit. C has never been a massive snacker though.

Would you mind copying it out for me, Nicola? They sound really nice and I could do with some new finger food recipes.

Nice Blog, Dr. Mamacooks! How do you think those cheesy little men would be with whole-wheat flour?

Not sure, give it a go, might be a bit more crumbly and drier. Perhaps try half and half first?

Thanks ladies, great ideas here. I need to have a bit of a bake I think. Sooooo hard to find time. Dipping is OUT, the mess from normal meals is astonishing, I do NOT need to be doing any more serious cleaning!

I've done the broccoli bites on here a few times and they are pretty tasty. Reminds me I should try again soon
There are a lot of other ideas on this page too that you can use.
