is it safe?

really quick question ladies.....(for once!!!) :P

is it safe to give my LO strawberries or blueberries as finger food?if so,how should i offer them?
i'm currently steaming fingers of carrots having made a beef casserole....really getting into this whole solid-food business!!!! (if only DD would follow suit!!! ::))

Watch out for strawberries though they can be an allergen before they are 1. Both my kids used to get nasty rashes around their mouths so after an initial try we stopped them until after they were 1 when they were fine, a few friends had similar experience. Strawberry flavoured things were ok though!

she's had them before as purees with no problems so we should be ok!
so,just wash the strawberries, chop off the leaf & leave it on the highchair as a whole?
& wash the blueberries & leave her eat them whole too?
was there something about the skins?!

blueberry skins are fine :-* (though I'd love to see someone try to peel one ;) )

I always halved blueberries, same with grapes.    I assumed they'd be a choking hazard left whole but no doubt I'm just totally mad!

she loved the strawberries!!!!i was a nervous wreck withv the carrot sticks though :(
i'll try the blueberries at teatime!(maybe i shoudl tell DH he has to peel them for the crack!!!!)
