I found that DD made the cluster feeding decision herself by being completely unsettled for most of the late afternoon/early evening :-\

Ahh ok, he's not really unsettled a certain period of the day yet. It's a bit random. Yesterday I fed
7,10,1,4,6,730...night feeds 12, 2.30 (because my boob felt it was going to explode)  and 5.30 this morning.
Does that look ok? I kind of purposely fed when he woke from napping in the evening as he was in the sling...

Thanks so much :-*

Looks good Sara. I would not wakein the night and I did what tracey suggested and woke in the day after 3hrs sleep rather than 3hrs since last feed. We split day and night with lights and noise etc in the day. I was getting 5hrs between feeds sometimes in hospital but by the time I was home it was back down to 3hrs. :(

looks great Sara....and you can always hope for a non-fluxing angel baby still!

We had 7.10.1.4.6.8.11.2.5am with Oscar early days, more or less
with Emma 7.10.1.4.7allevening till9pm.11.3am only

Don't know which was worse as being alone most evenings with them both and her hanging out for feeding constantly during bedtime for Ozzie was not easy.....would have been had she been baby no1.

Either way, very normal xxx

big congrats again and well done x

Thanks ladies :) it's great to see there is 'no' right routine at this age as long as they're happy and feeding well.

I have so much milk - I'm worried about pumping as it will just make more!

Shivi - I've noticed today big wet hiccups after feeds...so I'm a bit worried about reflux again. That said, he's not much of a cryer and its early days so hard to tell. Especially with my ton of milk and fast flow ::)

Lol KM, in birth unit T slept 8 hrs then 6 and I thought 'I've got a sleeper!' But now he's a few days older and not fresh from birth he's waking up and feeding more.

He long should a feed take. I thought it was like 30-45 mins? T is done in 10... I wind then reoffer...but sometimes he's done ??? By breast feels emptied...

If he's content after 10 and nappies are good and wet, then that sounds grand.

As for the excess milk, you could always hand express off a bit until you feel a little bit more comfy.

I'm just nodding along here with Amanda.  :)

Katie and James were cluster feeders because they were super unsettled in the early evening and the boob kept them happy.  :)

Allie did more of a natural cluster feeding, where she'd feed at 7, 9, and 11.

You're doing fabulous!  :)  Hoping the reflux monster stays away.

I agree with Amanda that if he's content and doesn't want more AND has lots of wet diapers, you're good to go! :)

Sounds like he's eating very, very well.  And who knows?  He might just be an efficient eater and you'll be able to get on with things sooner after feeds (as opposed to my DS who was a 45min nurser ::)).  *hugs*

The overactive letdown may have something to do with the short feeds ;) DS fed for so little time I didn't believe people who said their LO fed for 45 min :-[

This is pretty much what I ended up doing by experimenting til I found what helped with the letdown: http://www.biologicalnurturing.com/

Sara before I went to DD2's 10 day check up I was terrified they would re-admit us and she hardly fed and when she did it was 7/8 minutes, I was so so worried she wasn't getting enough. And guess what-the little porker had exceeded her birth weight! So even some very very NBs are just extremely efficient feeders :)
Blessed mum to two home-birthed darling water babies

hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race

Ok so had T 1 week check and he has gained weight :D phew! Now 8pds 4.5 ounces and was 8pds 3 ;)
:-* ladies for your help!

I think he is naturally cluster feeding maybe...early evening he's wakeful, catnaps and feeds on and off for a few hours? ..not fussy but not sleepy like other times of the day ;)

Sounds just like Katie and James, they were both like that.
