blackberries & raspberries for 9 mo

just wondering if it's ok to give DD these as purees?or finger foods?
she loves strawberries & blueberries (in both forms) but not sure if they are in the same family....seeing conflicting opinions on the internet...tia ladies!!!

And see, here we're advised to wait on strawberries until 1yo   We have given my DD raspberries as finger food, but I will tear them up a bit for her.  She loves them, even if they are a bit tart.  She has also eaten baby food with pureed raspberries, too.  Haven't tried blackberries, though, just because I'm not a fan of them unless in a pie or cobbler

Nah, there's conflicting thought about that, too...and if she hasn't had a reaction by now, then no worries!!  I just said that to show how varied advice can be depending on where you are.

I think recommendation from DDs ped was 9 months for berries.  I'm pretty sure we tried berries somewhere between 9-12months so go for it   Raspberries I ripped up into pieces for her, I don't remember what I did with blackberries, but she wasn't a fan of those anyway...

I gave S backberries as finger food when she was 7m and also used them mushed up in cooked fruit too, lovely with apple.
Its right in UK strawberries are not recommended until 1yr, its because of the colouring of them whatever makes them red can give allergic reactions which is why white strawberries and cooked strawberries are thought to be OK at younger age.

I wouldn't worry.  Strawberries are high in histamine so can cause an allergy reaction but I don't think all berries are.  My son loved eating raspberries around that age off his fingers (or mine).

Here they're weird with strawberries even at 2 and 3 yrs!

I gave raspberries very early - definately from 7-8mths with Emma (they were in season then, its how I remember ;-)
Strawberries I gave probably a lot later - she was 1.5, O was around 14-15mths, again just because they were in season and the kids were too young a year earlier...

she seems to like berries in general anyway!no major side-effects that i can tell!!!!

This reminds me of an old avi I had of L, she was in her highchair eating blackberries and was she was completley purple, I had the most comments about that avi than any other  They are still her favourite berry today!

With doing BLW I've just given anything and everything (apart from whole nuts and honey, really) from 6m.  Raspberries and blackberries I've given whole and DD has munched on them.
