round & round in circles

so LO spent 50mins going round & round her cot today before *finally* settling for her nap (which ended up being only 30 mins-no major shock there)

i think she may have been UT when i put her down, but most def ended up OT from all the moving.she's not crawling yet but was rolling onto her tummy & back & pushing herself around in circles for 50 mins!!!! this is the first tiem i've seen her do that during a nap, but when we go to her in the mornin, recently, she's been upside-down etc, so she's obviously moving during the night.

i thought she was settling herself but moans turned to cries after 10 mins....she started to settle then by 30 mins but then whacked her head off the bars & it all started again 

any tips on how i can help/avoid a similar situation again tomorrow?pm naps are always the tricky ones here....TIA.xxx

Sounds developmental! When we have this I push the nap out a touch so Z was really tired. Maybe try and extra 10-15 mins, and if you have to do a bit of APing to help get her sleepy I think when we had nutty developmental blimps I Bf Z to get him sleepy (otherwise never did)

I bet she is close to crawling

aw....BFing....fond memories......if only!i pushed her A by 5 mins this morning & we've had a good nap so far....1hr16mins.....bet she'll wake as soon as i post this though!i'm gonna drive with her for her PM nap to prevent OT creeping in....poor pet woke crying last night at 10pm (unheard of!) & when i went in she was half-asleep on all fours crying her little eyes out

nap went well!she did2hrs and a 40min pm nap in the car.night went well too-she woke about6am as usual but has fallen back to sleep now which is more than i can say for me!

I have a loooooong sleeping bag, which I leave in the cot with the end tucked under the mattress, and I zip DD into it when I put her in the cot.  She seems to settle to sleep much faster if she can't move around.  Not for everyone (my sister, mother of 2, can't believe I confine DD like this!), but it works for us.  And it's particularly useful if we're away from home and I put her down for a sleep in the portacot.  She's been crawling since just before 7 months but even before that was doing the same as your LO, moving all around the cot, banging her head etc.

it may come to that scruffymax!!!!i know we're lucky that we've had 9 mo of relative easiness on the movement-front.....payback is on the way i reckon though!
