Back again! pg3 quick answer anyone???!
« on: October 19, 2012, 20:35:14 pm »
Hello lovely ladies

Dd is now 9 months and pretty much over her cold, multiple nws and EW. Just not sure where to go from here....

Yesterday easy

Wu 7.10
Nap1 10.40-11.55 UT
Nap2 3.30-4.50 capped
BT 7.50

I did shorter first a time (usually 3h50-4hr) cos she was still lil poorly and shorter second a due to UT first nap which worked for her. However I had some nw and EW.

Twice between 11.30-12 for few mins had to ssh over monitor. Was that OT nw cos I capped nap or a to BT was too long?

EW 5.30  :-\ was that chronic OT EW or was a to BT too short which rules out nw thoery!  ???

Today's easy

Wu 5.30 sshed till 6 and gave up cos she wouldn't settle but normally she does ŵhich suggests UT at BT?
Nap1 9.45-11.50 capped
Nap2 3.35-4.45
BT 8

Basically my questions are should I cap am nap at 2 hrs so it won't rob from night sleep and if I do should I leave pm nap uncapped to prevent ot building up even if BT is pushed till 8? (That's ok for now cos clocks going back soon).

Tia xx

Honestly, I think if she's still a little poorly, that might be your reason for the NW/EW. Any separation anxiety?

Twice between 11.30-12 for few mins had to ssh over monitor. Was that OT nw cos I capped nap or a to BT was too long?
Its not classic OT - could be all sorts of things, even developmental http://www.thewonderweeks.com/index.php/about-the-wonder-weeks/your-babys-10-leaps/mental-leap-6

gave up cos she wouldn't settle but normally she does ŵhich suggests UT at BT?
or some kind of mild discomfort that's preventing her getting back to sleep but not enough to have her crying a lot :-\

Basically my questions are should I cap am nap at 2 hrs so it won't rob from night sleep and if I do should I leave pm nap uncapped to prevent ot building up even if BT is pushed till 8? (That's ok for now cos clocks going back soon).
Yeah, if you're using it to push through the time change, that's fine. I would caution against too many of those long days though - just watch they don't go on for too many days.

Thanks for getting back to me Bec. When she woke at 5.30 the other night I gave her meds and she usually goes back to sleep which is why that night was unusual. Last night wasn't too bad :-/

BT 8
Nw 4.20 ss
Ew 5.15 gave meds, went quiet so thought she was asleep but then started chattering asleep by 5.45
Woke briefly at 6.30, 7.25 and up for day at 7.45.

Wdyt all that was about? When she's sleeping we'll eg not OT UT or In Discomfort she sleeps really peacefully till wu. Dyt that she could have been UT at BT? She had a 1h10 pm nap followed by 3h a to BT....

She could have been UT - that would've been perfect for DS, but he had crazy-long A times in the morning and shorter ones to BT...

I think you may be entering PM CN territory - so one 1.5hr nap in the morning and a 30min CN to get through to BT.
Have a read of this: 10/11 month old sleep gone wonky? Read this first!
I always preferred the long AM nap til the PM nap was refused because it meant I could 'bank' a good nap for the day and had another chance if it all went to pot ;)

That's what she was doing before getting poorly 1.5-2hr am nap and 30-45 min pm nap. Should I cap both naps then to fit into the day a she does have quite long a times upto 4 hr in am...xx

Best not to cap both if you can avoid it. I would cap at 2hr max for the long nap though and cap the short one - more at 20-30min than 30-45 though.

Thanks Bec that sounds like a plan. I take it after a 20-30 min nap I need a 2-2.5hr a to BT?

Yeah, about that I'd say - that's how you can keep the day short enough ;)

Hi just popping in as we're in a similar boat. 4h A time, going down easily for 1.5 h am nap, 4h A time, capped 30min pm nap then....fight at BT!  Have tried 2h A after 30 min CN and been struggling to get her to settle and completely second-guessing whether OT or UT-argh!!! Don't need this on holiday!!

JM - would she settle after 3.5hr second A? Just wondering if you try for an UT nap so its not so horrid for Jess to wake up... Any possibility BT fight is related to OS? Can she still hear you/whoever you're visiting after she's in bed? DS always struggles with that, just wants to stay up and keep playing ;)

Can try it...though she's not normally great at going down UT, particularly in the pm. OS could be an issue I guess-its a pretty small apartment we're in and we're out more than usual in the daytime. How you doing Aishi?

Hate to suggest such a big change while you're on holiday, but have you thought about making naps short AM/long PM?

Yeah I think we're going to have to make the jump sooner rather than later-not keen though!!  Any suggestions for where to start?  Do you do full A time before short am or try for UT?

I did the full A time, kept the second A time to 1.5-2hr and packed it full of eating and activity to keep him going then PD for a long nap, something like this:
6 - wake
10 - nap
10:30 - wake (he was not really very happy about this)
12/12:30 - nap
2/2:30 - wake
6:30 - BT

I had to do that because DS wouldn't settle if UT. I think most people try for an UT nap and cap it, more like this:
6 - wake
9 - nap
9:30 - wake
12/12:30 - nap
2/2:30 - wake
6:30 - BT

Hi Katherine- sorry to hear your having troubles still especially whilst on holiday.!

Bec- I don't think I'd dare with short am and long pm cos am has ALWAYS been our best nap :-/

Tbh I don't know how we're doing! It's all over the place!

Yesterday

Wu 7.45
Nap1 11.35-1.00 slightly UT?
Nap2 4.25-5.10
BT 8

Nw 12.30 mantra ss
Nw 2.45 meds
EW 6.10 shushed over monitor don't know when we both fell asleep!
Wu 8

Think 2.45 wu was for meds. Really don't know what's causing the EWs now...

Today's plan

Nap1 12-1.30
Nap2 5-5.20
BT 8

Wdyt? It's so confusing!!! I just don't know what I'm doing these days xx
