Aishi - I wonder if you need to accept that an 11hr night is pretty good at this age and work a routine around that. The 20min CN is the way to go for you, since LO will still settle for it. When you get to JM's predicament of LO refusing the PM nap outright, you kinda have to go with short AM/long PM.

A nap of 1hr25 isn't *that* short of 1.5hr, so if it stays there consistently, it should be fine. Being me, I'd increase the A time a bit and see if I could get a longer nap but its not going to end up with LO being chronically OT. 1hr20 is usually a good trigger to increase A time.

Wu 7.45
Nap1 11.35-1.00 slightly UT?
Nap2 4.25-5.10
BT 8
Probably better off capping the nap at 4:45 or 4:55 rather than 5:10 - that extra little bit can buy a LO as much as another hour of A time at this age.

I'd be happy with an 11 hr night- it's what she was doing before getting poorly. It's been 8-6 lately which is too short a night I think especially with the nws. Yesterday after a 50 min nap she had a 2h55 min a to BT. Dyt that was too short? Should I have aimed for a longer a time? x

Ps I though it was reasonable cos whilst poorly she did 2.5hr a after a 30 min nap and was ot for it. Or is that just cos she was poorly??!

Probably from being poorly, I'd say.

8-6 is too short to sustain. I think though, that you have a fine balance to find between ending up with too long a day and not having enough A time to BT. Tricky to do and I think capping that PM nap at 20min is most likely to get you as close to that balance as possible at the moment.

Thanks Bec ill try that today. So if she does 1.5 am nap I should aim for 20 min CN? What's the longest a i should do after a 20 min CN?

Thanks a mill Bec. I think I'd given up ages ago if I didn't have the support I BW's!!

Not sure... I'd say 2.5hr probably, I'd start BT at around 2hr/2hr15 and just find a way to prolong if she's not ready yet just to be on the safe side.

Ok so last night wasn't too bad...

Nap2 35min 4.43-5.17
BT 8

Nw 1.45 I didn't give meds just shh and she fell asleep in 5-10mins. Dyt she could just be waking out of habit?
Wu 6.30 so 10.5hr night- still a bit short. Dyt she just getting used to longer night or do I need to cap pm nap at 20 min regardless of length of am nap? (Yesterday am was 1h20)

Maybe... did you medicate before bed? If so, it could have been the meds wearing off. Could just be when she gets into REM sleep too :-\

An habitual waking has to be the same time every night - then you could use W2S but not sure if she's consistent enough with that yet. Honestly, I'd probably cap that PM nap at 20min even with the 1hr20 nap (still go for 4hr A time tomorrow and see if you get a longer nap ;) ) though if the nap was 1hr 10, I'd do a 30min CN and 1hr or less, a 45min CN.

Give her a few days to get used to the longer night again and let that shorter CN really take effect before changing anything else :-*

Ok so I don't know how this is going to work

Wu 6.30 tried to settle till 7 but no go ::)
Nap1 10.37-11.57 wth??! Still UT?

I'd like BT to be no earlier than 7.30 to fit in with DLS so should I aim for

Nap2 4-4.30
BT 7.30

Dyt that would be ok and not lea to OT?? x

She fell asleep by 4.05-4.50 :-/ I'm finding it hard to get into the mentality of waking from naps...so I'm thinking BT for 8 that'll be 3h10 min a to BT is that ok or should I push BT to 8.15? x

I'd do BT at 8, you really have to watch the length of the day as a whole re: OT just as much as you have to watch nap length. I think 3hr10 should be an ok A to BT too.

I hated waking from naps but I only had to do it a few times and DS starting waking himself at that time anyway... the other option for us (he's so sensitive to OT) was so much worse than the grumpiness when I woke him that I was ok with waking him.
