4 week old crying to sleep
« on: November 07, 2012, 13:51:17 pm »
Hi

I'm after some advice about my 4 week old and settling him to sleep. We have been using E.A.S.Y and sssh/pat since he came home from the hospital with a little flexibility! We have been consistent with the ssh/pat but have been doing it in our arms then putting him down asleep and settling him with it in his cot if possible if not picking him up. This has been working quite well although a little tricky at times due to a lively DS1 that needs attention too! Anyway, occasionally I've put DS2 down and he has just fallen asleep on his own which is lovely but, and before I say this I am going to say I am not a fan of CIO and would never use this, but there have been a couple of times when I have put DS2 in his cot whilst in the middle of trying to wind down and get to sleep (DS2 related situations I had to see too!) and he has cried for 2/3 mins, no tears and then dropped off to sleep. I only put him in as I had to see to DS1 with no intention of leaving him for long and a few screams later he was asleep. Do you think this is ok and his way of self settling? I didn't realise they could self settle at this age. When iOn my arms he works up to a point where he cries for a minute and then drops straight off after so it seems it may be his way but I just would like to get some opinions on if it is ok to let him do this.

Many Thanks

If he's dropping off in 2-3 mins it sounds like it's his mantra cry :-*
