Vicki, M does get quiet time every nap day whether he naps or not. He lays in his crib for at least an hour in the dark. I think thats probably why he can cope so well without a nap. He did finally nap yesterday on day #6. Then ended up with a late BT and woke at 5:30am dozed for about 30 min after that but that was it. So he had about a 10hr 30min night after having a nap. Today he is back to just laying in the dark talking. Today wasnt a nap day but since he woke so early I thought I would give it a try. I dont mind him not napping so much as long as he doesnt get so OT that his nights get bad.

Thats great that the NW's are disappearing, I always have to wake M from his nap. I learned about a year ago that if I didnt then he would stay up all night.

Welcome Tiz.. A 7pm bt sounds right. LO's can usually handle a 10.5 hour day without a nap if they are ready for nn days. Hope all goes well for you tonight..

HMM, M is getting quiet maybe he will nap afterall.

Thanks the Lord for small mercies, that's great. I'm sure you're right that's why he copes so well.x.

LOL you're not alone there Hun  ::)  ;) How about building a Den with lots of fluffy cushions and favourite toys. Some LO's find it a really good place to chill out and I know some have even fallen asleep in Dens and Tents  :D

x.

I started by putting M in his crib in his room with the lights out and me sitting right by the bed. After a couple weeks I was able to just leave him to it.

I love the den idea but I just know it would end up with me being bashed about with said cushions and toys!
Mama_c I think our lo are about the same age, when he used to nap did you cap it?  how much? her usual is 1 1/2hr but she only slept 30 mins on sun after a 10 1/2hr night which was prob ot, although the first thing she said over the monitor when she woke was I'M AWAKE!!. need to tweak somewhere

I have had to cap M's nap since he was about a year old and I capped it at 45 min in order to keep a decent BT which was 7:30 at that time. I still cap his nap at 45 min on the days that he does nap. If she is messing about and refusing to go to sleep at BT then I would cut the nap down. It's best to keep some sort of a nap as long as you can.

UGH, I had a mess today. M woke at 5:30 this morning after a 6:00 bt sleeping by 6:15. When I looked at the monitor he had his pj's off again and his diaper was off and he pee'd all over the crib. Got everything changed and left him until 7:00 but he never slept. So I gave him a nap at 12:15 and he went to sleep around 12:40. But since it was so early I figured I would let him sleep longer because I THOUGHT the ew was from being ot. So I woke him at 2:00 giving him an hour 20 min nap. BIG MISTAKE. I put him to bed tonight at 6:30 going for a 12.5 hour day but he messed about and called me in 3 times, which he has never done until finally falling asleep at 8:00. I am not anxious to see what tonight and tomorrow morning brings.

Many times have I sat here and thought i'll give her a bit longer as she had a short night, ALWAYS a BIG mistake! M didn't wake up until 8 (nearly made me late for work! I rely on her to be my alarm clock about 7!!) this morning so had another NN day. will get her in bed for 7 tonight.  Again can't do SEBT as she won't tack on. She doesn't seem OT yet tho?

Hello,
Sorry haven't been around much recently. L has been sleeping loads (well, loads for her) the last couple of weeks. Seems to be due to a bug a couple of wks ago and now teething, so no 1-0 issues for now... We even had a lie-in til 8.30 am on Sunday! Wow.

Just wondered if anyone could have a look at this thread:
3 year old nap or no nap?

Questions about what is the best timing for a nap on nap days. Since we're not really at that stage and L is quite atypical I'm not too sure what to advise so wondered if some one could have a look?

Thanks ladies :)

Tiz - I always thought lL wouldn't tack on with SEBT but she surprised me and did. So although it's scary in case it backfires, might be worth a try - when did you last try it? Will depend on how tired she is too of course.

Hope you had a good night last night mama_c

Nap day yesterday (12;45-14;00) asleep at 20;00 but then I got a short night, wake up at 06;15?!? nap too long do you think? Granny looks after her two days a week and will not cap the nap any shorter than 1hr15  ::)

Well, I shouldn't have posted about it because L seems to be over her sleepy phase now.  We had a no nap day today even though we had two car journeys and we thought she'd definitely nap during the second one if not the first.  No chance.  EBT it was today then.  Nice long evening for me and DH though :)

M seems to be going through a sleepy phase for some reason. And only somewhat. He has napped 3 days in a  row now BUT it is killing his BT and nights. He didnt go to sleep last night until 8:30 which made it a 14.5 hour day then woke at 6:45 this morning so only a 10.15 hour night. Today I am thinking of doing an ebt (less than his normal 12.5 hr day) to see if he will go to sleep any sooner than 8:30. I am so lost right now. He went from not napping 3 days in a row to napping 3 days in a row.
