11 month old started walking and went from 1 to 2-3 NF!

M is 11 months old and has consistenly been having a NF averaging 6-8 oz, which we haven't weaned yet since he's so limited with his eating solids.

He started walking this week and now the NF have multiplied! Last night he was up 3 times - at 11PM, we tried to resettle, didn't work, we offered 4 oz he gulped it - cried when it was over for a second but fell asleep alright - at 3AM, we offered again 4 oz, exact same thing happened with the crying. Then at 5 AM again he was really out of sorts, so I made up an 8 oz bottle and he drank 6 oz, slept until 6:30.

THe night before I offered a full 8 oz at 11Pm, and he still woke at 3AM and gulped the 4 oz we offered.

I have almost doubled our solids offering but he is very limited in what he can eat due to food intolerances so it is hard to give him lots more.

I am scared of getting into a bad habit or something, but he looks genuinely hungry. Should I continue feeding him like that in the MOTN?

This makes me say that yes, feed him.  That said, i would offer a full 8 ozs when he wakes and see if he goes down to two night feeds....

yeah that's what I used to do and we were getting 2 NF, I'll go back to it, it's just that he's eating now so I was hoping to wean the NF, but I guess it's not enough :(

I can only imagine how tired you must be... but until his solids are more established and varied, I think you will be stuck with a night feed or two for now...

He's now getting in excess of 40 oz per day... Along with some solids. What confuses me is that the amount he takes in has nothing to do with how much solids he takes. He's really back to feeding 4-hourly around the clock now which worries me. Will be the same if he eats 2 good meals with lots of chicken + a snack, or if he does not eat at all.

I'm giving him 2 weeks in case it's a GD but surely he shouldn't need to drink that much - I'm concerned that I'm overfeeding him?

He also doesn't always take a full bottle in the AM which suggests to me he may have shifted his calories at night.

If he isn't taking a full feed when he wakes, I would start actively reducing his last night feed by an ounce every few days ;)

But Kara, what about if I tried to wean the first bottle? For the longest time, he'd do a 'long' stretch after BT until 1-4 AM, drink a bottle, then back to bed. We'd basically just be going back to that.

You could try that, but it may mean he isn't going to take a good feed first thing and that was your initial concern ;)

yes you're right I see what you mean. forgive once again my cuckoo brain lately! ;)

good news though - he only woke once at 3AM last night ;D. hopefully this crazy GS is done with now!

I just had a thought... M started walking on my second day of being back to work. He had been in daycare for a few weeks though and no issues at all with the adaptation, but wondering if my return to work might have something to do with his waking up? Although since he eats a full bottle I assume not? How would I better approach if it's related to my return to work?

Oh, it certainly could be!  He may just be waking to see him momma!  Bless him  :)

I would still offer the feed but maybe start reducing it slowly... until you just offer water and a snuggle...

Can't believe I didn't think of that earlier!!!

Good news though. He woke only once last night. He had eaten a good 2 oz of chicken for lunch and his snack so hopefully it continues like that and our nights get better and better :)
