introducing foods?
« on: November 19, 2012, 21:58:44 pm »
So DD is 4.5mths, we are not introducing foods until around 6mths.   We see her GI doc in a few weeks, but just curious when and what you introduced first????     Obviously not going to be giving her the foods I have cut out of my diet, but just curious what you moms did and when???

Well we started with things like squash, sw potato, pear, apple. If you are worried about allergies leave 3 days between each new food. We left wheat and eggs until about 8-9 months and he turned out to be allergic to them.

We started with pears, apple, banana and sweet potato. DD1 I didn't give eggs until after 1, but she had wheat (in pasta) earlier than that...however "they" changed the "rules" regarding when to feed allergenic stuff so I threw caution to the wind and fed DD2 eggs when she was 7 months old, turns out that is one of the things that she is intolerant too  ::)  Allergist advised no nuts or seafood until after 3, but we still haven't fed her anything with nuts as I am scared to.

Yep, haven't tried most nuts or seafood here either actually.

We started at 5/5.5 months, but only because they were very interested in my food.

I was thinking about trying it around that time too, my GI doc said to wait until 6mths, but she is already watching me eat and grabbing my spoon or water bottle. I see him in a few weeks. I dont see the harm in trying fruits/vegs, especially if it is in my diet already.     I am EBFing. Hope he gives me the green light to try:)

We were 5 months 3 days when first starting out...

Just begin with low risk things like pears, apples, carrots....
